I recorded an instrumental version of that with my friends last year for our history CD about Zebulon Pike.  It still makes me tear up when I hear it.

We were using the song to express the emotion on the toughest part of Pike's journey which was somewhat like Bilbo Baggin's journey in the Hobbit.

from the CD - "Black Is the Color of My True Love's Hair - Starving in the deep snow of the Sangre de Cristos, Pike thinks of home & laments that he may die here.  19th January, 1807, near present-day Westcliffe, Colorado."

You're welcome.  I know it's very different from the YouTube version you linked to.  It's an old song.
