"Box" style sheaths
on: June 04, 2011, 10:27:51 PM
I made these box style sheaths similar to the original Leatherman sheaths. I really like this style sheath which is not used as much anymore. From left to right, sheath for my ST200, Vic Spirit plus tool kit and Vic Swisstool RS and tool kit.

Seems most of the multi tool makers have gone the "cheap" route with their sheaths. I love the original Leatherman Supertool sheaths. They were tough. I bought my ST in 1988 and wore it everyday for almost 15 years. I still have that sheath and it's still in decent shape.

Thanks P35.

very nice mate, I'm a fan of a good leather sheath and it's a shame LM don't seem to make them any more.

Amici,
Absolutely gorgeous!! I have always preferred this style sheath in leather for MT carry compared to nylon, since it's more traditional.

Nowadays most vendors skimp on the sheath even though they make superior tools using top notch materials.

For example, that's the one thing about Victorinox that I can't understand.

The Swisstool and the Spirit, each comes with great quality leather box sheaths, but instead of using a nickle snap on the flap, they used a little piece of velcro which can fail under normal use plus it looks cheap.. Go figure....

Cheers,
Serge
