What an Unusual Turn of Events...
on: June 25, 2011, 04:54:35 PM
Since I now have a nice box to display my MT's in, I've been scouring every nook and cranny, and gathering together seldom used tools that I have scattered around (home, work, vehicles, shed, etc...). As I clean and sort them I've been coming across ones that have needed some warranty repair, but I never got around to sending them in. (Three shipments to Leatherman alone in the last two months. I keep waiting for them to say "No more warranty for you!")

Last week I had sent several in, and among them were two in particular: An original Super Tool that had a loose pliers pivot, a broken file, and a broken plain edge blade; As well there was a Core with a worn plane edge blade and the small screwdriver broken.

I had been hesitant to send in the ST, knowing that with the three problems it would most likely come back as an ST 300. The Core I wasn't too worried about, the last few I sent in came back as very nice rebuilds.

Well imagine my surprise when I opened the package from Portland this morning, and inside was a brand new ST 300, and a near mint original Super Tool (date codes 1199, and 1198).

Somewhat sad to loose one of my Core's, even though the ST 300 is quite a worthy replacement. But getting this original ST is like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow  :D

Awesome story.  Leatherman is simply a high quality company.  They definitely deserve our support.  :)

Cool! I'm surprised they still have a stash of original Super Tools to send back as warranty replacements. :)
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

It is quite surprising, most everyone I know of who has sent one in the last five years or so has gotten a Core, or an ST 300 in the last couple of years.

It seems awfully fresh, there are some surface scratches on the outside of the handles, but the blades and tools are completely unused. The plain blade even has that slight burr on the very edge that you would get from time to time on a new LM a decade or two ago.

The plier head is what really strikes me when I study it. It has that "just out of the box" fresh casting look to it, as if it was recently done, or it has been stored exceptionally well.

That is pretty cool story. Leatherman always seems to take care of their customers.

That's great service from LM!

Turnsouth, can you post some pics of your tool chest? I'm interested in something like that and I'm just wondering how spacious the six smaller drawers are.
