24h of Le Mans, crash Allan McNish
on: June 12, 2011, 02:14:09 AM
This weekend it's time for this years edition of the legendary 24h of Le Mans race, and after only one hour or so, this is what happened ...

Some very lucky people if you ask me, this could have been very ugly ...

As horrific as  McNish's crash looked, Rockenfeller's crash is what really scared me. I was seriously questioning whether he was still breathing.

Is it wrong for me to shed a tear over that beautiful and expensive long lens that took a tumble.

Yes, that could have been ugly indeed. As it stands, I find it amazing that nobody got injured in that one.
A little Leatherman information.

From the driver's point of view the Rockenfeller crash was indeed more terrifying  ... Scary stuff  :o

Bad crash, but ended OK...

I stopped watching F1 after Sena lost his life in crash, after that it wasn't just that for me...

I'm following WRC, Paris-Dakar, and contemplating on getting into Budapest-Bamako rally as amateur...  :D

F1 has been losing me of late. I started as a huge NASCAR fan before the series turned into a joke. I'm a big fan of Rally, though finding WRC coverage in the states is almost impossible. For me, road and endurance racing is where it's at: Grand Am series, ALMS, Le Mans, etc. Back when you could find coverage here I used to love watching the BTCC and Australian V8 Supercar series- those are a couple of insane racing series, but alas, I live in the land of NASCAR and drag racing.

I gotta say, Audi earned their win this year, and glad to see team Corvette on top the podium as well.

Actually SPEED channel is showing Aussie V8s a couple of weeks after the race is run, instead of waiting to show them in the winter.

BTCC, DTM, and WTCC are shown in the winter.

As to the OP, very nasty crashes.

Oh, well its good to know they are putting some decent racing coverage back on, but since I no longer have cable/satellite it doesn't really help me much lol.
