Thanks TP... that would put it around which date?
If mine originally came with a lanyard ring, it no longer has it...

BTW here I went hoping for a better file than on the PAD. It is, just slightly, but not much...  ::) No LM or Vic quality by far.

OK, so I am not an expert and definitely not good at dating, but
it has new style plier tip (pointier instead of rounded), thus it is China production and not old USA. It has Allen screws so it's also an indicator of Chinese made, what means it's post 2007  :salute: I think SOG introduced their gear covers in 2009, so if it has them, it must be post 2009. Yours doesn't.
It's an S44 model (does not have 1/4" driver socket) so it's still in production, that would make yours a 2007 to 2018 made model?  :dunno:

sorry I cannot narrow it down more but a you probably know SOG doesn't keep much info of their own changes and updates, it even took Chako quite an effort to know that the PPP was introduced in 1998  :P
My toys:

Thanks TP... Fuzzbucket also suggested 'still in production' but I can't find it on the current SOG online catalog (or I'm blind).

No matter, if it's that new 30€ ain't too much either :D

I like the compact build.
Cheers!

Just had time to read the wiki page, which confirms your general timeline except for the gear cover. No gear cover, but China model pliers and pivot screws - that would put it at ca. 2007-2009, wouldn't it?  :dunno:

Just curious, nothing crucial for me to know ;)

Cheers!

AFAIK the PPP never came with gear overs, no matter what model or generation is it  ???

It's massive even compared to the PAD (centre)...

And the Powerlock may be better finished and nicer to look at, but its handling of bit sets is inferior (almost useless 90° position of bit driver due to handle cover being in the way and orientation to the inside of the handle, thus requiring opening of pliers...)

Finally found a V.2 PowerPlier at a reasonable price(I think $43 + Free Shipping was an O.K. deal).  :woohoo:

And a gruoup shot. V.1, V.2, & V.3. :)

Thank you, W!

The V.3 was the first SOG I ever bought and the V.1 was a lucky buy. The V.2 had proven to be elusive. Well, at least one in decent condition. After months of looking, I saw that seller had dropped the price and added the offer option.  :)

Ah.. sorry. The three versions are of one single model. The only real difference(though the tool lodouts are slightly different) being the plier-heads(v.1 being blunt nosed with huge bolt section, v.2 blunt nose with mid-sized bolt section, and v.3 being needle nose with small bolt section). The SOG PowerPlier was their first compound leverage pliers multitool(their first tools were the ToolClips and ParaTool). Released in the mid-1990s and through the early 2000s, then replaced by the PowerLock starting in 1998. :)
