Awesome challenge all.  I love all the different items being used.

I really wanted to participate but life had other ideas.

I did finally get to do an outdoor coffee.  The fire starter was just a boring match, which there is no evidence of now.

Great hearing from you, hope everything is alright!

Day 20

I have been working on the house and some knife stuff carrying these.   [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]
But then after cutting some wood I found another ember waiting in the saw.

Looks like a fun knife project ongoing!

Carrying a black crackle zippo today, pictured here with the old turtle my family has had decades

Wow, I have a friend whom also has a turtle as a pet, and it is interesting how you literally could pass down the turtle to the next gen to continue the love. :tu:

Day 21

Got this giant stick of ferro rod a long while ago, but just noticed it has cracked at the lanyard hole, must have happened in the past year when I wasn't paying attention.

@Enginears, is that green scaled SAK your own creation?  If so, do you have a thread on it?

Oh yeah they make a great team, nothing throws more sparks than an Opi.  I am a big fan of the 1/2” rod, despite being a bit heavier than the littler ones.

That's a neat idea to wrap duct tape about the ferro rod, not only it's a decent tinder by itself and it's useful to mending stuff on the field when needed.

Got a new gadget today, and usb-c cigeratte lighter.  All I need to do is to connect it to a power bank and press a button, the metal piece inside will glow red hot and ready to lit anything I place inside the ligther.

New lighter day.  Just got this Douglas Field S fluid lighter from Japan, and really like all the finer details they have for this trench lighter.  It has o-ring for all the sealable places, including the spark wheel, wick, and fuel tank.  I won't call this waterproof but it seems quite rainproof as is.

I have loved Clipper lighters for both those reasons.

Although, they changed the spark wheel a few years ago so the edges aren’t round but more star like.  I can see it making it easier to spin in wet or cold conditions, but have also. Found they tend to wear and lock-up easier now.

I have also recently had an issue with the refill pin on a couple of my full-size Clippers being too big for the tip on my butane bottle.  I don’t have enough to know if this is a common problem, but it is a little frustrating.

I have been eyeing one of those for a while.  I’ll be interested in knowing if the o-rings help prevent evaporation.
