:like: Seems Ulster (esp. the 58OT, Barlow, and Camper, the original three Old Timers from the Prince Albert offer ) and Schrade Walden Old Timers are found in much smaller numbers than those marked "SCHRADE USA" I try to collect those marked "SCHRADE NY USA" (the stamp used in the mid 1970s) as that was the stamp on my first knife, the 34OT.

Spoke to the eyeglass manufacture the other day because mine are wearing through, needless to say she was very nice and said I could send them to her and they would replace the part and buff the lenses, or she would just send the part to me, and all this for free! But I need those glasses 24/7 because of my condition so I said just to send the part and I’d fix it.. so I have a replacement nose piece on its way, when it will get here idk, in today’s mail before we do anything would be great..

I now have a TON of different fixed plier multitools on the way.  All different types and brands and some obscure and some Chinese and all will be thoroughly reviewed.  I’m most looking forward to the Ruko 15 function multi tool, the Stanley automatic multi tool, and the Swiss gear multi tool.

Charles.

Maybe my eyeglasses part, but I stuck a water bottle in the freezer earlier so I could throw it in a small bucket of ice and leave it at my mailbox, it’s freaking 92°F(33°C) out totally humid, and our mailman walks up and down every freaking street. The last time it was nasty out the Mrs threw a bottle at him and he litterly chugged it down before he crossed the street!

I got this a few days back, it’s perfect for sunflower seeds, one side for the seeds the other as a spittoon, but I haven’t used it cause I haven’t really gone anywhere, but I’ll be putting it to use in a couple days, I kinda made a little something to use along with it, the seeds I got are a couple diff flav, one being ghost pepper, that one you can’t just take a handful and throw them in! So I made a mixer, I took ghost and sweets I think to a 1/3-2/3 combo and dumped them in ready to go!

:like:  I've passed up a couple of left-handed models (usually a lot simpler, the last one was nearly identical to a Traveller). I've seen cheap. I am left-handed, but I guess I've got used to the standard SAKs, having carried them for twelve years. I'm sort of curious as to just how much more convenient they are for left-handed persons such as myself.

I've got several Toolclip knockoffs on the way for my review series on the Ubiquitous Chinese Plier Tool.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FXRJBYQ

A Kabar copy with an actual clip!

Another 5-blade advertising version with different scissors:

An interesting take on the plier tool... now a universal wrench tool. Seemed pretty neat and possibly better than the adjustable wrench idea, so I gave it a shot.

Outside of that, I have an Ace Hardware folding plier tool that looks easy as pie to mod:

Interesting! I got the Kabar today, and it's the size of a Micro Toolclip. The clip is in a better direction -- if it opens in my pocket it won't get stuck. The main blade is sharp enough to cut paper easily, and even the serrated blade is too! The file is completely cut, and there's a little unsharpened notch in the file that will make a perfect wire stripper after a bit of filing on my part. The jaws have slightly less material, they don't LOOK as beefy. However, the jaw action is butter smooth and the jaws actually open wider than the Micro Toolclip. The cutter on these takes up more real estate than the toolclip, and it also does a better job. The SOG struggles to cut 18ga insulated speaker wire. It will make a clean cut about half the time, and a cut with stragglers the other half. It takes two tries to cut 12ga stranded copper wire, and it cannot cut 16ga with extra thick insulation. The Kabar can cut 12ga in one snip, and has no problem with the 18ga speaker wire. The 16ga with extra thick insulation does give it troubles though, same as the toolclip. The SOG can cut small zip ties but the Kabar cannot. Both take two tries to cut large zip ties, though occasionally the kabar will cut it in one go. The SOG will never cut it completely in one try. The tools have little side play.

Overall it's a cute little tool. Like the SOG, it doesn't have perfect cutters. They're usable though. Even the SOG, being so tiny, has only limited usability, but it's a keeper I think.

Charles.
