25th anni Wave. I have one copy, but the scratches are more than my liking. Seller stated "great condition". I hope...

Update, after a little bit of wire cutting here and there, the Kabar aren't performing well anymore. I think it was a fluke at the beginning, when they were fresh and new. Now they struggle to cut anything except the 18ga insulated wire. Cutters seem to be machined well, but there's no edge on them. D'oh!

Also, that Ace hardware tool is a BEAST. Blades are about the length of the blades in a Victorinox 91mm, but they're deeper and thicker. It weighs a LOT, if I chucked this at someone's head, it would do permanent drain bamage. Every tool is a nail-breaker. More like a nail destroyer. The backsprings are ridiculously strong, and that makes all the tools miserably hard to get out. Plus it feels like the pivots are grinding gravel as they operate -- even after lubrication. The blade had a bend in the tip, and it was brand new and still in the clamshell! I used a ball peen hammer to fix the bent tip, and then I had to sharpen it. It was so dull it couldn't even open packages or cut tape. File seems good, and the wood saw seems sharp, but you have to open the pliers to get at the nail nick for the saw, which is really inconvenient. The pliers fold out and work okay as pliers. The tips don't come together, so they can't pull out arm hairs. As with all pliers of this type, they can be bent sideways easily, so no pulling out nails or anything gnarly. The cutters were completely dull, and couldn't cut a single piece of my test wire, no matter what gauge. However, the pliers open very wide (more than 90 degrees) easily, and I took a small flat file to the cutter surfaces. I filed a quick bevel to the shears and then BAM! Now they cut everything from 24ga on up to 12ga with a nice snap.

Is this tool worth buying? Well, I paid $9 for it... and I'm going to say no. For $12.99 you can get a Newpow knife from Amazon which has similar pliers, a better blade with a liner lock, a sheath, and a bitdriver with attachments. Everything on that knife is sharp, everything is smooth opening, and it's just a better tool.

Honestly, I bought this because it looked to be about the size of a SAK and I'm curious if the pliers could be transplanted into a 91mm or 111mm Victorinox.

Charles.

I haven't bought any new knives or MT's in a VERY long time.  I got into Magic: the Gathering 2 years ago and that's where all my money goes!  Nothing on the way at the moment, but I might pop into the local shop and grab either some packs or singles tonight.

Have you played Cosmic Encounter? It's the board game that Magic is loosely based on. MAD fun strategy game with no two play-throughs ever the same. If you have any board game buddies... it's like crack. Soon you'll have all the expansions and the box organizer and will be playing twice a week :)

No I've not heard of that one.  I originally started playing magic as a kid around 1994/95.  I just picked it back up again 2 years ago, and it's incredible addicting.  A good friend of mine is trying to get me into D&D and a few other tabletop games, I imagine he's heard of Cosmic Encounter.  I'll ask him later this week.

Some cool finds on the way!

First and most important: a 108mm Fireman, in mint condition  :ahhh

And for the 58mm presidential collection: George W. Bush (metal inlaid presidential seal on the front, metal inlaid signature of George W. Bush on the back). It will look real nice on my shelf, next to the George H.W. Bush knife  :D
It will however take some time before I'll get this knife because I'm having it shipped to Hawaii to save me the shipping cost and import charges. Now I only have to fly to Hawaii to pick it up  :D

Scored a Remington by Bear and Son "Tiny Trapper" (3" closed) for $10 from Amazon. I guess because it was discontinued now Buck owns the exclusive right to produce Remington knives.

I ordered a copy of a British Army clasp knife (black bakelite scales, massive can opener, large blade and huge marlin spike - you know the one), from one of the on line stores - it looks well made and is less than a tenner. I'll review it when it arrives.

I've been after one for a while, but the originals are getting expensive and the scales shrink etc etc.

Thanks

BTW, obviously i'm not flying to Hawaii to pick up the Bush knife; we're going on holiday there in about a month so that's why I had it shipped there so I can take it home in my luggage and save me the import charges and shipping cost.

:like:  Thinking about getting that one myself instead of the 110LT.   Something a bit different than just the handle. Buck is also supposed to come out with a 112LT-- now that will be a great pocketknife. I'm hoping bright colors will be available.

I like the LTs for the less weight factor, plus, the LT model ride well on my biking excursions from home.

The clip point works well with meal prep, yet I expect the drop point design will do well at that plus prepping kindling if I build a fire at camp on a overnight pedaling adventure.

A 112 LT would me a great pocket carry for me, but not heard of any plans to release that model.

PS: the drop point was a limited run by Cooper & Clad, 100 units, each stamped, mine is marked "20".
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Some TEK screws (hex headed self drilling panel screws) to panel out my trailer with nice new wood. I used the same thing last time I did it around 1998 and they lasted well.

Found my dream sheath, the Ripoffs CO7. Made in the USA, metal belt clip, and room for a flashlight (made for Mini Maglite, which I have but I'm hoping it will fit my new LED Lenser which is slightly longer), standard size Leatherman (they show the OG Super Tool), and most importantly, a back 3x3" slot, which I intend to put my pliers in, but they should also fit most of my 3x5" cellphone.
