Oh well. MTs kick amurf. At least I just borrowed the money from my storage cabinet fund.  :)

I had an old Craftsman 3/8 Drive "Pear Head"  quick-release ratchet in my toolbag with no sockets (just the one I borrowed off of Granddad with the ratchet), and I was first going to buy a set of Stanley, but I try avoid buying Chinese tools (provided, I do have stuff from Kobalt and Harbor Freight that works really well and has held up for extended periods), but then I found a third party seller on Amazon with a 25-piece Craftsman set that was supposedly USA (may be China) with both metric and SAE sockets for $15 shipped. Now to pilfer one of Granddad's extensions, and I'll have a decent 3/8 set.

Nice! For some odd reason these days, you don't see too many locking carbon steel folders.   Problem is that Old Timers these days are getting pricey--users are now as much (if not more) than the 2004 MSRP of the knives.

And at a knock-down bargain price unless I'm mistaken   :tu:

These don't seem to come on the market at bargain prices very often. :salute:

A Leatherman Squirt E4, the original model that was made only for Radioshack. When it was new, I saw it in our (now closed) local Radioshacks (namely the one in the mall) for something like $40, which I couldn't afford at the time, but I really wanted the tool. Lately, the price on these things have gotten stupid, with people wanting north of $40 for them, and well-used examples by that. In my mind, it is the best Squirt, with its 3D Phillips, and a stripper head since these pliers aren't that tough. The current Squirts have crappy scissors that break in storage. This one was almost like new and $25.

This should be just what I need for model trains and slot cars along with and as a backup for the proper tools.

Nice, I like the phillips on that RS-branded squirt. I've not had a problem with the scissors on my ES4, and didn't know it was an issue. I keep this tool in my motorcycle toolkit, along with some wire and twist ties, to make emergency roadside repairs. (I ride vintage motorcycles, which are generally a roadside repair in the making)

I might have to look for one of the radioshack versions...

Charles.

I'm pretty sure cody was referring to the small scissors on the Squirt PS4, not the larger scissors on the ES4.  I know that many of the scissors on my PS4s are broken, even on the ones that don't appear to have been used much at all.

Correct me if I’m wrong here, but the PS4 and ES4 both have the same tiny scissors. They have the exact same tool load, the ES4 just has wire strippers instead of pliers.

Yeah, they PS4 and ES4 have the same scissors and, yes, the spring has been know to break while closed.  Sadly I just found the ones on my Style PS broken.

Been a while since I had anything "fun" on the way, but spotted a good deal on a Nitecore TIP CRI.  Now on a slow boat from China. :D

Sorry everyone, Charles is correct.  I was thinking of the Squirt S4 which has larger scissors in place of the pliers on the P4 & PS4.  The ES4 does indeed have wire strippers in place of the pliers (and the small scissors with the spring that is prone to breaking).

(my excuse is that I am currently suffering a head cold and it is definitely reducing my already usually meagre brain power)

New mobile phone on the way. It should be here on Tuesday.

Ray had shown one of these in the electrician's knives threads I'd started,  and because of its unusual configuration (four blades, sheepsfoot, saw, and two screwdrivers, which are on the back) I put one on my list. I found these some time ago on Etsy, but never got one until now.

$10 with shipping, so let's see how decent it is.
