Yes! It's confirmed. Tonight these will arrive. I got them for 125 USD. Don't know about your market but here in Sweden it's a very good price. (Image removed from quote.)

Had to choose one from a group including the Gerber MP600 Trail-rider, Yellow "77" MP600, Camo MP600, Woodsman MP600 and Early Red MP600. Just don't make enough money.  :ahhh

My thinking was this. I've got a Yellow MP600(not the same one, but a yellow one), The Camo MP600 is still a regular 600, the Woodsman has no special tools, I have a red MP600(the snap-on version, which isn't the chippy paint).

So, I have a Trailrider NIP on the way. Pricey, but it is one of those you aren't going find most of the time. And the seller's price was pretty good.

Edit: The rest of you guys should go check out some of his listings. Seller name is monmouthco. Several very rare and uncommon tools.

Seller's photo.

This is very true.  I can't recall ever seeing a MP600 TrailRider in a sealed clamshell  :salute:

Thank you very much, gentlemen!

I am ecstatic! Monday will have an MP600 Cable Cutter arriving from the same seller(bought last week). It looks like it needs some cleaning, but I'll make it work for the price. I just hope the cutter head isn't dinged up too bad(photos look o.k. but, we know how that goes). Still haven't figured out how to restore the Gerber Satin finish. :ahhh

The Trailrider will have to be removed from the shell to get a light oil coat when it arrives. Otherwise it'll spot up in the humid Alabama weather. :ahhh
Will do the best I can to preserve the shell though. Worst case I'll laminate the graphic card if the shell is brittle.

Great score on that one! I've been trying to find a user condition one.  I know a friend of mine who'd love to have that tool.  Same with me, if I got back into horseback riding.  I've always wondered why knives and MTs with hoofpicks in the handles never quite caught on. Hoofpicks aren't exactly something I'd want to carry in my pocket by themselves (same with most other pointy tools that are often in SAKs and MTs).  I think the only two decent ones these days are a Moore Maker (Bear) Trapper with one and the Victorinox Equestrian.   The $10 ones with comb, hoof knife, awl, blade, and of course, hoof pick from feed stores and tack stores are junk; I had one in my horseback riding days ca. age 10-12.

Thank you!

I'll keep an eye open for used Trailrider. What kind of money are you looking at for a used Trailrider?
Just in the case I see one that is used for a reasonable price.  :)

As a collector I'm a bit sad to see a very rare NIC Trailrider removed from its clamshell
IMO once you take it out of its clamshell it has lost significant desirability from a collector's viewpoint.

If postage between the US & Oz wasn't so outrageously expensive I'd offer to swap for one of my (unused) ones.

Can I suggest you just drill a couple of small holes in the plastic and spray in some protective oil (eg Tuf glide or similar) to prevent corrosion.
That way the tool is protected but remains in an unopened clamshell.

Gerber MP600 TrailRiders are very hard to find these days and so often sell for rather high prices (compared with regular MP600s).

Some of the older tools & knives also had Hoof Picks (eg HHH Barnett).  It might be possible to find one that is in poor condition (eg broken blade or other damage) but still has a good hoof pick for a reasonable price.

Or a new knife with a hoof pick ?

Just scored a Wenger for a really good price. I don‘t even know what type it is.

Has small and large blade, inline philips, wrench, scissors, bottle opener/flat head and can opener on the front side. Back side has corkscrew and awl. Anyone able to tell me what i just bought?

I agree 100%, but I also try to modulate having fun with my collection and being practical. I've never enjoyed trying to preserve clamshells for the sake of collecting. It does significanty hurt the value, but I never pay enough for the tools to where I'll lose money in the event (which I hope never happens) I'd have to sell some. My joy comes from sorting the tools close to another and admiring the tool itself. That is why you will see me buy tools without packaging most of the time. The Trailrider is one of only a few clamshell victims for me. Otherwise I make a strong effort to leave NIB items for "prestine tool collectors". Not sure how to classify a collector who prefers to leave the tools sealed up vs. a collector who enjoys the tools themselves (ex. myself).
The Trailrider was the only one I'd seen on eBay in forever, so it will be joining the MP600 collection I've been working on since 2017.
And, that said, we don't even know the integrity of the clamshell yet. The seller is a bit vague about that part. It may already be damaged in some way from being stored.

After writing all of that and thinking about what you said, perhaps I'll leave the TR in the clamshell (if the shell is undamaged) for a while to see if anyone wants to swap a mint TR w/OG sheath & papers for it (if they'll pay insured shipping both ways). :hatsoff:

It's your tool, so you are entitled to do whatever you want with it. If you want to take it out of the clamshell to better make it part of your collection the way you want your collection to be, then go right ahead, I have no right to dictate what anyone else does with their property.  We each have our preferences and that's how it should be.

You are right about MP600 TrailRiders being rare, I don't think Gerber made many at all, and stopped making them quite a while back, so they don't come up for sale very often.  I do have a particularly unusual one - Orange handles and BO tools (NN pliers).  It is the only TrailRider I've ever seen with coloured handles.

But if I lived in the USA (so that postage was not so crazy expensive to and from Oz) I'd definitely be trying to negotiate a swap with you for one of my mint TRs :)
