Every once in a while I have the site valued just as an indicator of how well we are doing. Less than a year ago, we were valued at about $23,000. As you can see, things seem to be going well!

Now taking offers...

Seriously, I don't put much stock in the value these sites list. It's really a hit or miss kind of things, and it also boils down really to whether or not anyone would actually pay this amount for the site. My guess is there'd be very few takers at $20k let alone $40k, so does it really matter which site is right and wrong or even which one I use? In reality I only use it as a guage to see how Alexa and other factors rank us, as it pertains to a dollar figure. While one site to the next may vary based on what info they use, using the same site over and over again will give a more regular idea of whether your site is doing better or worse. It's really only one set of data I use when trying to judge whether or not we are moving forward.

And, since we've almost doubled in value over the last year or so, one can surmise that we've gotten a lot better in the last year as it comes to traffic, links, etc.

Well it is better than a kick in the goodies, that's for sure!

In reality, these are theoretical numbers, with about as much meaning as any valuation. Something is really only worth what someone would consider paying for it, and I doubt too many of us here would drop that kind of money on this place, even if they had it to spare.

As I said before, it's nothing more than a yardstick that puts a bottom line on site traffic, unique IP's and a pile of other analytics. Of course, if someone came to me with an offer close to that figure, I'd certainly take it under some serious consideration.

Honestly, I'd prefer not to say. There are lots out there, and I'd hate for someone to burst my bubble by pointing out the flaws with the one I use.

Dont´t knock selling; I remember Dpreview being bought by amazon a few years back, for serious money. It was and still is a good site but nobody expected that someone like Amazon will actually want to buy it... Maybe Leatherman would be interested in this site
