Backyard Fire Practice Fun
on: June 26, 2011, 05:58:44 AM
Just some fire practice fun and campfire for this wonderful Saturday night.

Used my new Swamprat Swamp Warden for the first time. Just received it in a trade an wanted to test it. It worked well.

Here shows my broken up cotton ball and Light My Fire fire steel. No vasaline on cotton ball just plain ole cotton ball.

One strike on the steel and we had flames

Don't worry that is untreated lumber. An old hardware store gave away many of those wooden flat crates but they were all dry rotted so they make great fire wood.

My seat and campfire must items. LOL

Showing everything together. That is my dog Sugar snooping around as normal.

Fire is really blazing now. Kept it going for a couple hours but now I'm in the house to enjoy a little inside R&R.

Hope you enjoyed. Ash

With the paracord it sure is. Cuts threw that wood like no other. I'm kinda in love.  :D

Solid looking knife. I wonder if that little cutout at the base of the blade would make sparks on a firesteel in a pinch.

Do you have any more pics of that SAK in your avatar? 3 blades and a saw is right up my ally.

Nice knife Ash... And fire skills... Now run call 911!!  :pok: :pok: :P

BTW, the thing you used to burn fire in could be used for something else... Where I live it's called "talandara"

http://www.google.rs/search?q=talandara&hl=sr&biw=1366&bih=616&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=JyN_TrfjDqay0QWax7S6CQ&ved=0CC4QsAQ

River fish fried in that is awesom, also you can use it to prepare stew's, gulas, meat and potattoe... You can frie without any fat, or use vegetable or pork fat (that's why I have 130kg)  :D :D :D

I've been using "never dull" as a fire starter instead of the cotton ball.  It's a metal polish, pretty cheap for a tin of the stuff. It's probably not very water resistant but for just camping it worksgreat if the tinder is damp at all. Nice kit btw, I need to find a nice firesteel like yours!
