I was thinking about this problem and had an idea. Must try it to see if it works, though. Get a thin plastic straw and cut it to fit under the hook. Put the threaded needle inside. f you use the thread, you still have the same bulk from the straw, it won't fall out so easily.
What do you think?

That could work. I used some headphone wire insulation to keep the glasses screws from falling out of the scissor layer of the Forester I used to carry. Straw could fit really nicely under the hook.

Off-topic: my ferro rod is tiny. It fits under the scissors, and is held in by waxed cottonball tinder. I strike it with the back of the saw, which seems to generate more sparks than any of the other tools.

Is that a mod? My 111mm Forrester has no scissors...

For hooks with no file area....

I used double-sided Carpet Tape to attach a small strip of 400 grit paper. Works well enough in a pinch to smooth a jagged nail etc. I glued mine to the invisible side of the hook.

The hook could also be used to expose and lift the vas deferens when performing a vasectomy :-)

Steinar -

I think you would do better (better full explanation and pics) of how to do a vasectomy by
Googling it. Assuming you have scissors and a needle and thread in your SAK, you have all the tools
needed to do one. I don't recommend it as a do-it yourself project however.
