I need a Supertool, not sure why
on: June 30, 2011, 02:02:17 AM
I know this belongs in the Tools Needed section, but no one is responding!

I really want an original supertool for some reason.  Ebay search is messed up right now so I can't use it to find one online, and the ones that I saw prior to the ebay error are really overpriced(think $100 plus).  I have a bit of cash ATM, not much, but I figure I can work something out.   So, before the Mods move this, someone respond!

You might want to get that ebay thing figured out.  There is one that is at $26 (auction) with free shipping that is about to expire, and another at $20 with 3 days left.  Get back to ebay, brother!

Watch out for that serrated blade. More than one of us around here have falling victim to that sucker. My insident with it was when I was showing my brother what not to do when closing that blade. Guess what happened I cut the @#$% out of my thumb.   :ahhh    :-[     :D

In my humble opinion the Supertool is the greatest Multitool of all time. I carried one on my belt every day for over ten years. It never let me down. I do carry a charge at work now for the metric bit driver capabilities, but for a rock solid worker the Supertool is hard to beat.

pic of what a Supertool's blade should look like...

I now have two coming, one is pretty clean and straight, the other has some damage to a screwdriver tip that I will probably use the warranty for.  I just don't want them to replace it with a newer model because I specifically wanted the supertool and I plan on giving it to my dad.

I have an original Supertool (I purchased it when they first came out).  I still use it around the house and it's a handy tool.

These older tools like the Supertool and PST have a certain old-style flavor that makes using one almost like time travel.  Same thing with older vehicles, the original Tron movie, and so forth.  You younger guys may not dig this kind of old-school flavor, but for someone like me who is pushing 50, it starts to become more meaningful.

One of my ST's came today.  This thing is wicked!  It's immaculate, the only use appears to be on the serrated blade where someone must have tried to cut metal with it, and it appears that the plier end of the handles was used as a hammer a few times.  No real noticeable stuff though and all the screwdrivers are perfect.  I can immediately see the locking system will take some getting used to, but I love the older LM tools so much that I should be able to get over it quickly.  The other ST will either be a gift to my dad or will be relegated to my car.

I think the best car tool for a lower price is the Leatherman Core.
I've bought a couple and I've seen many cheap on ebay for around $20.

thats a steal for that nice of a tool.
