Book swap?
on: July 09, 2011, 03:27:32 AM
Like Pacu propositioned, would anyone else be interested in a book swap on here?  Basically the rules would be that if one person had a book he/she'd be willing to swap, the title would be posted in this thread; from there, the person who wanted that book would list a book that he/she'd be willing to swap; addresses would be exchanged, as would books.  Media mail within the US would keep costs at a minimum, and other countries may have similar postal methods.  Conditions of books should be listed, as should areas to which you'd be willing to post the book(s).

Thoughts?

[Edit:  Perhaps someone else could draft some rules or procedures?

I suppose I can start the book swap idea; I have the following books I'd be willing to swap:

Foxfire 4
Foxfire 5
Foxfire 9

These books are in very good condition, though one of them has a partial front cover tear along the joining edge.  I am willing to ship worldwide.]

That sounds like a good idea :) Will check if I have any books to swap.

Credit goes to Tony for the book trading system:  we'll use a credit-based system for books, and see how it goes.

I have an idea but I don't know if its any good or would work (I'm not sure if this is an original idea but it popped into my head, maybe its been done before    )

Instead of two people swapping 2 books, maybe you could have a pool of books (almost a library  :-\  )

so you have three Firefox books in the pool (the pool owes you 3 now)
Pacu want's one but he doesn’t have anything that you want
he puts in a cookery book  (he now has one credit in the pool)
that I want so I put in an old ScFi  book (1 credit now)
that you want
so we all get more chance of getting something we are looking for? etc etc

I'm giving this a bump, and adding "The Way Things Work, Volumes 1 & 2," which is a rather neat piece of 1960's history.  Want to learn how an artificial heart or how nuclear fission works?  Trade with me and find out. :D
