Sideclip dilemma
on: July 09, 2011, 11:52:04 AM
I have a dilemma with my Sideclip I recently got from Allan. It is unused, so do I use it or keep it pristine as these don't exactly grow on trees anymore?  :ahhh :D

It's a tool - it was born to be used

They are a collectors piece sure but its not like they are uncommon.

I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Though the Sideclip is now a collectors item.  Still, it wasn't meant to be a virgin!!! :multi:

If you are collecting, then don't use it. If you aren't, by all means use it.

@ Chako. I tend to use things so more a user than collector. The general consensus is to use it  :) It can still be special while I use it  :tu:

I would keep it and try to get a user  :tu:

I did the same with my KF4 Juice. I did use the new one for light tasks but once I got the user I use it for everything

If you are questioning using it, then keep it on the shelf.  I have had to buy a used version of the tools I want to keep so that I don't feel bad when it gets all dinged up.

I think if there is any doubt, then there is no doubt - if you have a mint version then keep it so, its discontinued but not so rare a tool that you cannot find a beater version of it for EDC. there's no shame in collecting stuff, and taking pleasure in the pristine shininess of an unused MT.

Maybe a stupid question, but what's a "normal" price for a black Sideclip, used but in good condition ?

I've got my eye on one but I don't know if it's a good buy or not ...  :-[

Since it's black it's probably a Kick with clip and not a Sideclip. No idea what a good price would be though.

I'm not 100 % sure, but it really looks like a sideclip to me ...
(Is it ok if I send you a PM with the link to this "sideclip/kick" so you can have a look at it maybe ?).

I have never seen a BO Sideclip. I know they have a shiny and brushed stainless steel version, but not a BO. I believe Allan is correct, it is probably a Kick with a clip.

EDIT: Fixed typo.

My sideclip is beat up and has seen better days cosmetically, but it still functions fine and I keep the blade sharp enough to slice DEEP into my thumb(stupid alcohol, makes those blades slippery  :drink: ).

Point is, my sideclip has been mine for over ten years and even after heavy use, it's still a sweet looking tool.  Don't worry about it, use the darn thing!

I never saw a BO sideclip either, but then again I never knew a polished version existed until I joined this forum.

Thanks. I was destined to get a Sideclip since I even had a Tool Adaptor and bits lying around from about three years ago  :multi:  We all know how well together they go  :)
