Question about PPPs
on: July 10, 2011, 12:30:38 AM
I'm not sure if this should be over in the mod squad but here goes...

I've got a PPP on its way to me.I'm curious to know if the V cutter can be fitted to it?If so it would make for a handy UK legal rescue MT.I've had a look at SOGs homepage, which says its not compatable, but hey, these things lie!

Would appreciate your input, and other suggestions for fun tools to add to the Sog when I get it

According to the SOG website, the V-cutter is only compatable with the PowerLock, EOD PowerLock and the PowerAssist.

I've never tried it, but I can't see any reason why it wouldn't fit..?
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

I know Yud and a few others put a v-cutter in to a Paratool.  It should fit fine in one of the "long" tool slots I would think.

I once tried to put a V-Cutter into my PPP but if I remember right, it didn´t work because of the bolts which fix the blades stood out too much and hit on the scale. It should work on a PPP Deluxe with the V-Cutter being the only large tool though.

Hope I could help and that you got my point because I had some problems with the translation.  ;)

The V-cutter does indeed fit the ppp,  you will need a spacer though because it is narrower than the other components.  I have it set up as - spacer, v-cutter, large flat screwdriver, robertson, philips in my ppp and it works out perfectly.

My son has the v-cutter in his PT-510 (so same deal as PPP).  As others have pointed out its not perfect (rivets rub on the side a bit) but it really isn't bad at all.

Its a big inprovement over the horrible SOG scissors that were in there.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Looking at my PPP again it might really work with a thin spacer. I made the V-Cutter fit into my Paratool using a spacer half a year ago. Works perfectly!  8)  However I never tried it with a spacer on my PPP...
