A day out fencing
on: July 10, 2011, 03:12:14 AM
Today was the day to replace the original fencing of the original pasture of Rocking Horse Farm--19 years old.  We pounded posts last week, and this week was the time to shoot up the boards.  First things first:  I had to set out the boards:

Here are the stacks of boards before starting:

You can see the extra posts here:

The pile of boards after placing out the boards:

My trusty blue Farmer started the day:

Loaded up for the first run out:

Here's the area to fence:

Unloading the boards:

The boards are set out and ready to shoot up:

These are the tools of the day:
A Paslode nailer:

And chainsaw (Echo 3000):

Here is a section which is finished:

This is my helper for the day (My son Hans):

Finished up in time for dinner (and beer):

No digging.  :D

We have a hydraulic post driver:

Drives posts into the ground with 30,000 lbs for force.  Much easier.  ;)

I've helped a friend dig post holes by hand, your post driver looks much more fun. :D

I gotta admit though that, until I saw it was you that posted the thread, my first thought was of someone doing this:

Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Looks like you guys are making good progress on it despite the spiders! :tu: :D So is it tricky chainsawing off the little bit of board that overhangs each post? ???  (too bad you can't think of something useful to do with all those leftover ends...)

Really neat thread Whip, thanks!  That hydraulic post driver made my day.  I have this urge to go rent one just to see it work!
