Shame about it not folding, 'cos it looks great.
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Back again and more or less finished  :tu:
I took this little chap to pieces then reassembled with a little more care
Not what you would call easy to open but its a bit better, now with added bail (which is a bit stiff   ::) )

I really want to keep the scales but don't want the opener,
So...

Make some liners

Scales glued to new liners

Test fit, do this 100 times  :ahhh

A few more pictures
OK so theres a hole in the side of one of the scales and the scales have a bit of a gap from the liners in places

But it has the right amount of snap and is about as hard to open as a SAK  :)

Good price on that.

I have been meaning to ask, if you have gotten to work with that other puukko? And what do you like that first one?

Yes I like the first one very much though I've not used it for much so far, the second is started but pushed to one side at the moment  :tu:

Nice one Tony  :tu: You missed a trick with the cutout for the can opener peg though. You could have put a thumbstud on the blade and made it OHO ;)

I had thought of that but didn't want  to bugger up the blade..... might have a go one day  :tu:

So I was thinking,
I’m really happy how this turned out, the snap is just right but the scales which is what I liked about the knife in the first place are not right  :-\

As Al said I did think about making it a OHO but the spring is a bit too stiff  :(

I also thought about filling the hole with a bit of stag but I think it would look a mess  :-\

So I thought copper, the bail is copper but I don’t have any copper suitable  ::)
So...

Bit of brass

File

Glue and file

Cut off the spare and file

More filing and sanding

After a polish

Just need to sharpen the nicks out of the blade
Looking pretty good for a 100year old knife (ish probably)

Happy now  :D
