So for the last week or so nothing went right, ruined a little project knife, blew up a motor on a belt sander and my old 1 inch x something or other is so tired its only good for light polishing  :bnghd:

Something needs to be done
I have been collecting bits for the past couple of years and it's now time to do something with them!  :ahhh

Now you might not agree with me but this is the very best 2x72 grinder build on you tube
It shows how to make one with very little money or skill  :salute:

Hi Tony

Well done!  :tu:

I was humbled by similar efforts of a guy I'm helping with his early knife making effort, he user 2nd hand but good idler pulleys on his build.

I ended up buying a kit, built & up & running.  Bought an enclosure for the VSD yesterday so that's my last hurdle out of the way......just have to deal with the nervousness and almost disbelief that I have it.

Also built a DIY gas forge in the past few weeks. I built for less than half the price I could buy for, but I was severely worried about gas consumption.
Past Saturday those fears were put to rest, worked till I was pooped and the 9kg gas bottle was still going strong, the 19kg I bought should last several sessions.

I plan on doubling the burners to 4 for the longer blades.

I do, I confess I've been hectically busy......

Actually meant to post some pics last night, THAT didn't happen, but long weekend starts as soon as they let us go today, so I'll make a plan.  Need to upload a few videos of the forge in action as well.

I have an old Taylors Eye Witness knife with jigged bone scales

In very good condition except for...

Whats in the box of horn

Break off the old (very brittle) scales leaving the existing pins

Cut off and peen pins

Glue on new scales

Needs some work

kinda sorted now, but it's a bit of a funny shape

Add super glue to the softer centre

After rubbing down, just about finished but needs some polishing and sharpening   :tu:
