I thought I signed up to be a member of this club but after looking through all 9 pages, I guess I didn't. So I'm in, since it's the tool that brought me to MT.O over a year ago. I came here looking for info on modding the saw to put a file in its place. I still haven't done this. I attempted to do a drop in but none of my LMs can just drop in and I don't have the machining tools to mod. I'm still here though enjoying the excellent company though :D

Here it is just moments after unboxing. I did get all that's seen here with the MUT as a package deal on eBay. I really do like the molle sheath too :D

No, I haven't seen it. I'll search as well. I did buy a set of Vic Swisscard scissors last night after reading through this thread and remembering that Derek put them in his MUT long bit holder.

Nice!  I think they make a great addition to an already great tool!

Thanks for adding the link Terry.  I don't recall reading through that before, and it's a great idea.

I doubt I would do that  I really like the MTs that I own. I was considering taking apart a MP600 that I trashed in Iraq for the file though. I'm thinking of going to Home Depot and looking for a small file. If I come up with something, I'll be sure to post the method and images......... FO SHO!¡!

I found a donor on eBay last night. I got a Surge replacement file and saw on the way. I'm hoping to be able to insert the file into the bit driver in the MUT for use and in the bit storage holder whenI'm not using it. This will be my very first major mod (well, major to me) I've ever done. So, fingers crossed............

:tu:  You could always add Vic tweezers to it too. :pok:  That's another simple mod for it.  If I can do it, anyone can. :D

Cool and you put it on the plastic tab, carbon scraper side so that way one can keep the pocket clip  :tu:

I got the Surge replacement file/ saw. I was messing with it just to see how I want to go about this. Did anyone know that the file/ saw fits in the bit driver? I'm thinking of adding a notch to it so it will lock in.

I just finished with the file mod. I tested it on the saw just in case it wouldn't work or I messed up. I used the diamond file to scrub away one side. Being 1am I figured, what the heck, I'll pull out my Dremmel and wake everyone in the house up and cut the notch. Sadly though, no one woke up, not even the dogs, and I succeeded on making the notch in the saw and file. I also used the Dremmel to scrub one side so the file would fit, like the saw. The saw and file fit nice with some lateral wobble. The bits also have some also wobble which I never noticed until I checked tonight. I am a happy man right now!¡! It took me over a year belonging to this great forum to get ideas together for this to happen!¡! Thanks to all who helped with their ideas and inspiration!¡! Here are pics!¡!
