Seen some chatter about the hammer on this tool, and I can tell you that it has been quite useful for things like tapping nails in. I also tapped out a piece of bent steel with it. I have not used it for any major hammering. I think its a common sense thing to decide what's appropriate and what's not. I have seen a demo of it used to pry out a nail and that sort of thing would make me nervous unless it was an emergency. One youtube review shows that the tip of the hammer broke when used in freezing conditions. Its a nice option to have for light work however.

Something designed for "light work" should not be put in the hands of soldiers.

I'm sure it would hold up to 95% of everything. I wouldnt give a number that high to any other MT

Mut: inside both handles, right in the center. My clip side is dated 11/10 and other side 12/10. Manufacturers often make components at different times before assembly.
Skeletool: i was wrong... Cant find date

I think the saw on the Mut is the largest for leatherman... here's a size comparison against the Charge which is the same as a Surge for saw size. Not sure about the ST300.

I found this forum because of the MUT.

I saw on at a local Gander MT, and in researching came across this site. After reading what you fine folks had to say about it I had to order one.

I love this thing. It's a beast, but I love it.

I even love the wrench ---

Anyway - not only did I score a great tool, I found this place. Sweet.

Damn ... I just bought skeletool cx only to find the MUT. I truly regret I'm broken cause I'd buy that tool in a blink of an eye.

Amazing design, I love the hammer.

Too bad it's combo, though.

p.s. does the brown bit holder part is made of plastic or is it AL ?

I am proud to announce that I am in the club

Just picked up my BO MUT from PO yesterday. There is one gripe though. The torx screw of the carbon scrapper tend to tighten itself when open & close the scrapper few times, to a point that the scrapper is too tight to open. I have to hold it still with my thumb to avoid this problem. No biggie just it's annoying, since this is one top of the line MT out there. Should there be a washer between the screw & the scrapper? Any owner out there having the same issue?

Got the MUT as a gift from my wife, played with it all the time very good looking tool....... First time I took it out of the box I just want to salute the dang thing

I find the MUT quite handy in the garden. Large, easy access knife and saw plus that hammer make it very useful and the pocket clip allows quick storage and access.

I have a MUT I just bought about a week or so ago, it has a date stamp "0711" inside the handle opposite the belt clip, it's inside a little "U" shaped area formed by the knife blade retainer mechanism.

I am a member of the MUT owner's club. These pics have been posted before, but right now they are all I have, so you will have to see them one more time! BTW, I have a question for those of you in the know, is my MUT considered Black Oxide? I'm betting the answer is yes since there is not a piece of stainless on it, but the way I figure it, if you don't know, you better ask somebody!
