Whoa. :o

So those of you who went with Core and Swisstools... I'm getting that you think the perfect execution of the tool design/production was what was so orginal?

Is thier a dispute as to this being a locking device or would we be in agreement that it is ?

My initial guess would be that it would be considered a locking mechanism, but like everything else around here, that depends on your definition.  If a tool locks, then does it need to be unlocked?  Does this tool have an actual lock release or is it separating the handles?  If that's the case, then wouldn't the original PST be considered locking because you can't fold the tools until the handles are opened?  The more I think about it, the murkier it gets!

Haha, now this is getting complicated! :D Though I'd say that the first tool to lock open is the first locking tool, and let the rest be details... :)

.......I sent the following to Utica Kutmaster this morning ;

.......I got this reply this afternoon ;

Excellent detective work Doug! Thanks, I've been wondering about that Multimaster introduction date for a long time!  :)

The reply you got also explains why the early Multimaster tools say "patent pending" but the later tools have no mention of patent at all.

....do you have any idea of how we can take the patent date from my tool and get a name to it ?

Do you have any more information at all?

There is a patent search function on this page here: http://www.freepatentsonline.com/search.html
(Use the Quick Search tab)

Fill out what you know, and it will search for relevent patents.

I don't have any info to add to this thread at this point, but I wanted to take a second and say it's great to see you back again Doug.  I wondered where you'd gotten to!

Mother Nature is doing my landscaping right now..it's called snow :-\
I recall my grandfather having a harp-like tool in his tool box,and even back all those years ago to a young boy's mind it looked more than a little awkward to use.

Does putting a spoon on the end qualify it as a multitool since it now has multiple functions? :D

Taken from someone who likely has had the experience first hand . I seem to remember a pictorial displaying the use of a multi assembling a desk with someones blood displayed .

What does F.R.E.D stand for? I got told by a guy who was in the Army, but it's a little rude, so I'm not sure if it's legit or not.

3.POWERLOCK  improved the power and easy to replace/customise to your needs
4.SPYDERENCH unique "take it apart"design with adjustable wrench & adjustable jaws on pliers
5.CRUNCH locking pliers,locking blades,regular 1/4" bit driver without any easy-to-loose adapters
