I've been to the London Science Museum a number of times over the years, but an becoming concerned that its getting somewhat negected, and being dumbed down.the state of the aviation floor is a disgrace considering some of the very significant planes they have!None the less, the ground floor was rather enjoyable, and heres the Highlights!
Rover Jet1,experimential jet turbine powered road car.Rover took the turbines to Le Man several years before the STP and Lotus turbines ran at Indy
The Flying beadstead, the technology demonstrator that paved the way for the Harrier
Another child of Northern Ireland thats too far from home!Shorts SB2 pioneered vertical take off years ahead of the harrier, and was mimiced by the French(Mirage V) and the Russians(Yak 36 and 38 Forger and Freestyle respectively).Thankfully the other one at the Ulster Tranport Museum is in much better condittion.
