After losing my skeletool a few years back, I got 2 new ones and I love them.  I always have one in my tool bag, and I carry it when I dont need to carry my full Sized Wave.

I like those pictures Big-Target! I also have the CX, albeit the later plain edge version.

Actually I'm on my second one as I have dropped one. Had a Wave, sold it. Had a Charge AL, sold it. Only the Skeletool prevails!  :salute:

It is meant to be an EDCer. And I'm at the age/health that I don't see myself hacking an airstrip out of the jungle.  So that, the Style CS, and the C33 are in my pockets. :multi:

I'm in, had one for a year / 18 months and do really like it a lot. Thought it was time it posed for the camera!

Not that it matters too much but check out the un-even grind on the blade. Anyone else's like this? Appreciate it will come out over time and sharpening but should be better IMO from the factory.

I don't like how LM have subtly made the font fatter. I dream of more elegant, subtle times when the lettering would be thin, utilitarian and simple (PST). Recently got a Skeletool CX for my father in law and noticed the difference.

Atb, Jon.

The uneven grind is a blessing in disguise.  It strengthens to point(due to the geometry of the grind)to make it bend/break proof.

:tu: My Skeletool is fresh out the package and in the kitchen. The tool is a trip,so lite and tight. It sliced open the tater tot bag and snuged up the handle on the grill. The pocket clip is sweet along with the OHO combo blade. Not to big on the driver, short shanks (excuse the pun) fall short. The pliers will take some getting used to for me. They feel awkward in hand a bit. Then again there not klien sidecutters. Its a nice tool with a killer design.

That's what I thought at first, but after EDC'ing the skeletool for a month, I've realized portability of this thing puts it in class of it's own in between a pocket knife and a juice.

Excellent selection of colour and style :tu: lovely pics  what's the story on the different serrations on the 154cm blade, is it an early model or factory variation

Good eye.

In the first year...I think 2008, the CX model came with a serrated blade. That is the one that is deeply serrated compared to all the others. The regular Skeletool came with a plain blade. The following year, they switched over, with the CX having a plain blade, and the regular Skeletools having the serrated blade. Interestingly enough, the serration on the newer models are not as deep as the first year serrated blade.

Awesome collection there Chako!

I recently shelved my S2 in favor of my CX.  It's my fifth LM after my CS, PS, Crunch, and S2, and it's easily my favorite.  It's definitely a home run.  Best design of any MT I've ever seen.  I do eventually want to get a Charge and a Fuse or a Blast though.

My CX has the deeply ground serrations in its blade, so that must mean it's one of the early ones.  I however, I only bought it last fall.  Wasn't there a failure problem with the plier heads on those early ones?  Do you think Leatherman would do an exchange on it for me and give me a new one, preferably with a PE blade?

Heinz, the longer you stay here, the more MTs you will eventually have. You will have a Charge, a Fuse, a Blast, and possibly more before you know it.

Possibly old stock. As for Leatherman, I think they only repair damaged products. I don't think they would exchange it for a newer version...but I guess you can email them and ask.

Badwolf, check out the Multitool Encyclopedia at the top of the website. Lots of good info in there.

Good to know, thanks for the info.  I was wondering if the one I received was an older one or not, but until now had no way of knowing.  For now I'll just live with it unless it fails, and deal with it then.  I'm not real hard on my tools, so hopefully it won't be a problem.
