Hi does anyone know when they started putting date codes on skeletools ? I recently examined two new tools in 2016 dated boxes , one tool had the date code 1016 the other tool had no date at all.

Cheers

Dunc

Hi guys!! I found on ebay an old model of skeletool, ss with plain edge. The owner says that is 100% new, never used, with the original box, and he want 55€ (i'm in Italy). Do you think it's a good price, or should i try to downgrade to 40/45€?

What do you mean by low? That's actually perfect lockup. You want about 40%-50% on something like that because with use the liner will start to drift over to the right.

Hi all,

I asked this question in another thread, but thought I'd give it a try here in the hope of getting a knowledgeable response.

I don't currently own a skeletool but am definitely drawn to the design and the cool looks of course!  :) So I am at least considering one. However, one thing has me a little worried. Typically I've been very fond of LM's quality, but if you go to their web site and look up the bit kit - 42 piece I believe - the reviews are horrible. There are no dates on the reviews that I can see, so am hopefully thinking they're using a more robust metal now, but I can't be sure. Also, might these be the same bits provided with the skeletool, wave etc? There is also a US replacements bits package that fares better on the reviews. Maybe better ones are provided with the actual tools and just that one set of extras are of concern? Also I've heard about a 1/4" adapter so one could use any standard bits but I can't seem to find that on LM's site, unless maybe they meant the bit driver extender?
If anyone has any info on this, I'd appreciate it.

Also, not trying to knock them but if you go read the reviews yourself you'll understand my concern.

Hi , I've used leatherman bits for years and never had one break. I use my Skeletool and Wave loads with the bit kit and bit extender. No problems from me.

Thanks Duncan, good to know.

Ya, it's funny that I've never come across any problem reading through forums or online reviews. Only on the actual LM web site, and again only for the one bit kit. Go figure  :)

I've been carrying a SAK for most of this year, but I dug my Skeletool CX out tonight. Think I'll start carrying it for awhile. I've missed it!  I recently sold my first year Skeletool.

I haven't had any problems with them either and have used some of the bits a very fair bit myself :salute: :tu:
