i would snap one up.  :gimme:

would be nice if leatherman did a gold coloured CX like SOG have gold MT's.

if anyone in this club has a combo blade for a CX that they would want to swap for a plain edge blade, i would be interested in a swap. i have more use for semi serrated. (UK only offer)

I have a new CX with a combo blade that I'd trade you for a PE blade... I'm in the States though.  Still, if you're interested, let me know.

i would be very interested. would the blades get through customs ok? id be scared that one would get lost and one of us would end up with a bladeless skeletool. which would really suck.

Not to my knowledge.

I don't think just shipping a blade in via the postal service would be any big deal.  Just wrap it up securely so it won't get loose, and make sure to send it parcel post.

To ensure against loss, simply send it with delivery confirmation.

PM me so we can discuss this further without side tracking the thread here.

I have said it before and I will say it again. I used to hate the Skeletool, but after carrying a PE Skele for a while I actually love it.  :tu: I'm thinking a colored Skele is in order.

Has anybody noticed that there seem to be variations in the plier head design?

I'm looking at my Skeletool, which was just bought at Target a few weeks ago, and my Freestyle, which I got in the Costco combo pack in '09 or so, and the engraving of the heads is substantially different. The "LEATHERMAN" text is thinner and more deeply engraved on the Skeletool. The Freestyle has a large circle on each side of the pliers, on top of the "shank" where it attaches to the handle, but the Skeletool doesn't have this, and just has a small oval like the ones that are already present on the other plier head.

There's a small number in a circle partly hidden by the handle opposite where the circle is, as well. The Freestyle appears to say "2_" and the Skeletool looks like it says either "11" or "4".

I'll take a picture later to clarify what I mean.

As a mechanic, I love this tool!  I keep my Saw, file and anything that works better full size or I don't "need" in my toolbox.

This is my second Skeletool. The first one i have at home mainly for scuba diving. This one i bought to replace my Juice C2 witch i have EDC at work for 6 years.
I bought it at Bass Pro Shop in Savannah GA for 75 US. I thought it should be much cheaper than that in the US.

I like the dartboard pic! That's awlsome! Regarding the pliers I know the engraving changed when they swapped the CE to PE on both models. I'll take a pic of my old cx beside my new SS later. As for freestyle vs skele I'm not too sure. I don't have a freestyle yet.

Yes for me it is very useful and it is easy to make. The flat-head on the other side can still be used for adjusting pressure switches and other small screws.

Thanks for the extra pictures, great job  :tu:

I made something similar to fit in my LM Kick, it was a bit smaller and thinner to fit the electrical 'key switches'  we have in the UK

I've been carrying the Skeletool a lot lately. My Benchmade is jealous, but sticking one small tool in my pocket is so much easier than a folder + a dedicated "better" MT. I'm sure I'm not the first one to discover this, but anybody else notice that you can open it "Spydie Drop" style?

My Freestyle and Skele have different plier engraving, but they're both CE, for what it's worth. Maybe it's just a difference in what they used on each model.
