"The Kardex" kydex card holder
on: August 10, 2011, 02:50:00 AM
These went over pretty well on EDCforum. I have 3 colors of kydex coming next week and I'll be doing another run in orange, coyote brown and EMT red.

I recommend the orange. It makes it very easy to find your cards when you're trying to get out the door in a hurry or if you happen to drop them. For me the orange color is half the utility in this idea. I've spotted it from a distance several times in a place it wasn't supposed to be and put it away before it became really lost.

Wanna throw $15 into my paypal account?  :D It'd be $20 if I weren't already shipping you the scales.

I was thinking about mounting these on them. http://www.usaknifemaker.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=30&products_id=2792

But they cost almost $8 so that would make it $28 shipped.

This one holds 5. That's with an 1/8" mold, basically an aluminum credit card that I form them around. I also have a 1/4" form for 10 card holders but nobody seems to want one of those.

And to clarify, it holds 1 ID, 2 credit cards with raised numbers and 2 cards without raised numbers like membership cards or student ID's perfectly. If you try to stuff 4 or 5 raised number cards in there it's going to be a very tight fit.

I'm not sure that shape lends itself well to clipping money. :D
I'd opt for a much cheaper stainless version. :3

Sorry, I've been so focused on the knives lately that I haven't paid much attention to the wallets. I'm going to do another big run of kydex in about a month. The price on them is $15 shipped.

For those that have been redirected here from another forum the price is $15 shipped in the U.S. and $20 shipped international. Interest has grown substantially in the past few months and I can't pass on doing another production run. I need to get a feel for how many and what colors so if you're interested then just post here what color you want so I know how much kydex to order. The color selection can be found here, http://www.knifekits.com/vcom/index.php?cPath=41_54_136
any color that's available in the .08" thickness. If I get a post here that asks for a specific color then I'll order a sheet of that color and make it. The sale of 1 wallet pays for the sheet so speak up! If I never sell the other 5 in that color I'm still not out any materials cost. Also, they come in 2 sizes, 1/8" and 3/16" inside thickness. How many cards they hold depends on what type of cards you try to put in them.

And 1 other thing, the extra $5 for international orders is just to pay for the extra shipping. If you order more than 1 shipped international then the others are $15 each.

So if I go for 1 Orange and 1 Red cost will be $35 correct ? is there a way of attaching a loop or ring to the card holder for lanyard attachment or could a lanyard attachment ring be superglued to one end of the holder as I have no experience of working with this type of material any advice would be most welcome
I am quite good at aking items with para cord so may be able to come up with some sort of pocket to carry this in which in turn could have the lanyard attachment on it instead what do you reckon.

regards
Ray
