My son is an Eagle Scout!!!

It was a very long day yesterday but we finally got family and friends together to give my son his Eagle Scout ceremony.  Of course I ended up using a multi to repair a microphone during the course of the day.  I'm exhausted but so glad every one got to come together and congratulate him.

Congrats to you and your son! Making Eagle was one of the great moments in my life, back in '97. A lot of hard work, but also a lot of fun and some great experiences.
There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D

Thanks guys for the congrats!!  In honor of him earning his Eagle, I carved him a hiking staff.  I did use a SAK and a mora in the carving of this Eagle though for most of the finer detail work, I just used a woodcarving knife.   Although, not my first woodcarving, it was by far the most complex one I have attempted to date.  I'm very new to woodcarving but enjoyed every minute of making it for him.

congrats on your son obtaining the rank of eagle scout! Very nice carving too :tu:

My ASM carved my friend and I eagle neck slides for our double eagle ceremony and i still show it off to this day. Make sure ya'll keep up with all the paperwork , awards and whatnot...i lost my original badge long ago :cry: but still have everything else in my dads gun safe up north.

You will have to get one of those " My son is an Eagle Scout" bumper stickers now :D

We got the bumper stickers, but I didn't put it on the car because any time I get cut off by someone that has one of those bumper stickers or one that says "I'm an Eagle Scout", I always think worse of them than a normal person... not that I ever cut anyone off.  ;)

May I add a question, as scouting is not very common here: I know the concept of Boy Scouts, but what exactly is an Eagle Scout? Something like a rank?

Yes; it is the highest rank a Scout can earn in the BSA (equivalent to the Roverwache in Austria or the B-P Award in the UK) :
