It's actually not all that difficult.  A couple of hours with some sand paper is pretty well all you need to crank out a beautiful looking knife.

I just don't have the patience or the space to do it.  I always have kids jumping on me. 

I do like the idea though.  I just like things to be different and unique.

Back on the topic of SAK's, Tim has a lovely one that I have been eyeballing for a long time and have come very close to buying a few times now.  It is the marbled one.  But what puts me off is how it is probably quite rare so I would be afraid to actually use it.  It is lovely though.

I have the same problem, except for me it's my wife walking in and interrupting....

I have been experimenting with soapstone scales.  I haven't worked on them for a while but they do look very similar to marble.  Unfortunately they are also very fragile and wouldn't make much of an EDC.

LOL   Didn't get that the first time I read it!

Thats why a like bone scales (not that I have any) as they look bloody nice and must be pretty tough as well.  They must feel nice in the hand as well I expect.

It's sad I know, but I keep checking to make sure it's there (just in case I ever happen to have a spare $89.50 kicking around) and when it goes it will be one sad day I can tell ya!
