Here's mine. It took a while to fall in love with that thing but now it's in daily use. It doesn't look too sharp but it is.

Went to the Opinel dealer today (hunting/fishing etc. shop) and after going through their items for 1 hour I felt that I had to buy something.

Got this Slim N°08 SS with bubinga wood.

I wanted something light but with a longish blade and I decided to get this over the standard version, for an extra 2.5 Euro (with a discount for the regular custom), as it looks much nicer and I know from my slim 12 that the blade is very useful for slicing. I just hope the sexy shine on the blade lasts.

The difference in size and weight from the standard Opinel is quite noticeable and this disappears into the pocket whereas the standard 8 does not.

For reference, the standard one is about 44g and the slim I got (different wood) 33g; not much but it does feel like a much lighter and smaller knife. (The funny thing is that the standard slim models with less wood and metal are about 20-30% more than the standard Opinels….)

I've had two Opinels for a while, a stainless #6 and a carbon #7.  Nice knives, simple but very useful.  This Christmas I got an Amazon gift card, so along with a Case CV tiny toothpick I grabbed a carbon #6.  It's in my pocket right now.  :tu:  Between those and the Texas Jack I got from my mom, it's a carbon steel Christmas!  :ahhh  :D  Still debating if I'm going to re-finish the handle on the new #6.  It's dead here at work and I have about 40 different stains to choose from.....
There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D
