Thanks Barry, thought the box was well suited to storing the Opi’s

Big old No10 was slicing up some large packing boxes today. I love the nice, hand filling handle on this size.

I posted this in general, but figured it needs to go here as well...

Somehow over the past couple of months I've gone from owning no Opinels to owning a whole family of them.  They're wonderful knives for the price, and there's no good reason for anyone to not own at least one!!

Four of these I just got in from one Ebay auction for a crazy low price.  They'll be used in my camp kitchen.

No.7 at top, the three in the middle are No.8, with a No.10 at the bottom.

That's exactly what happened to me.  The nice thing about Opinel is that you can have a fantastic collection for relatively little cost.  They're rapidly becoming my favorite knife.

Nice collection NutSak!

You might try a No.8 Gardener.  It fits in the pocket better than a regular clip-blade No.7 and feels better in the hand than a regular No.8, IMO.  There's a lot of blade there for the size of the frame.

Picked up a no.12 Explore recently

Liking it so far, the only thing i'm undecided on is the lanyard hole on the other side of the gut hook, not so sure i like that but the rest is spot on, this is one of the new ones that instead of a fire steel it has a tick removal tool in its place, it will get more use than a fire steel and a removal tool is the fastest safest way to get them off, i now have one that i know exactly where to find when needed and i can whistle a little tune at the same time, move over James Galway :tu:

Interesting Borg :like:

I didn’t know they’d replaced the fire steel, out of interest if you wanted to, would a fire steel still fit or is the design quite different? Assuming you have access to the older version :dunno:

I’ve got the No8 outdoor with the whistle, really like it but haven’t actually used it on anything yet  perhaps when we’re out of lockdown

Doing a bit of whittling with my daughter a couple of days ago.  The Outdoor Junior really is a great first knife.

Not replaced but another option to have, i don't have a fire steel so i don't know if its the same fit, Opi certainly missed a trick if it doesn't, tick hook for summer, fire steel for winter would be perfect as i know you can buy the fire steel by itself as a spare part, i think it's safe to assume the tick hook will be available too  :dunno: The Explore is like a no.12 with a no.10 blade so is good size to have   :tu:

If someone has the fire steel model perhaps they can check if the back of it looks like this  :tu:
