Not an enabler, 🙄

Yes, those are nice!

I believe Sos24 has the Teddy Bear model.

Maine also has its share of Moose!

Bison are raised across the Midwest and plains. Great meat ,alternative to beef.   Much leaner.

Bear are present in many states, Pennsylvania, Has some largest varieties of black bear.

I going to look for Tour de France scripted handles for 24 season.

Besides, you would not be a valued member here at MTo if you did not share your finds with fellow members😉🌹
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

The 2023 Edition Nature series. Of each of these only 9,000 were made.
The one in the middle has blackened collar and blade.

I have a few of the folders, because I embrace simplicity, but I don’t carry them much.  However, when I’m putting around the garden and need to do some precise pruning , or work through a tangle of vines or whatnot, I have found that the paring knife and the vegetable knife are actually easier to use than the folding garden stuff.  By the way, how many do you need to get the badge?  I need to start making an effort in that area.
That’s gonna leave a mark.

Doc, just post a picture of your Opinel each day for thirty consecutive days.  Start a thread and post your pictures there.  If you need a hand pm me and I can help you.  After the thirty days, you apply for the badge.  We can cross that bridge when we get there.

It has been a while since I saw the 'put a knife in a potato' treatment to make it turn color.  I remember an old man who said it would sharpen better afterward.  I wouldn't swear to that.  Best wishes.  G

And now, the moment at least one of y'awl has been waiting for...

Carrier No. 4 After.jpg
* Carrier No. 4 After.jpg (Filesize: 99.27 KB)

Sure, the blade is now darkened. But there was a lot of crud that had to be scrubbed off. And I should have foreseen one side effect: it now smells like a smurfing potato. Hopefully that'll fade away. :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh
And I've noticed the blade is rather stiff. Since these are my first carbon Opinels, I have to ask: is it normal for them to have stiff blades? I'll have to find an effective way to get some oil on the blade and pin.

Thanks! :hatsoff: If the smell fades and I can make the blade open a little easier, it'll be worth it.

If you want a really good patina, a wedge of Jarlsberg Swiss 🧀 will do nicely

The stiff blade is normal Dan.  I put a drop of olive oil at the pivot and open and close the blade a few times.  I've not done the potato trick, but have used walnut husks and black tea.  Maybe a both in black tea (blade only!) might take care of the essence de pommes  :D.  Either way, it'll go away in a short while.

I started this patina with a cool pattern from some tangerines (pic in the challenge thread), and in that case the smell does fade.
For opening, it can depend alot on moisture levels. I have dripped wax into the joint and worked it, which makes the action pretty smooth as well as hopefully limiting moisture intrusion.  Some people put them in the oven on a low temp to get any moisture out.
