My Humble collection
on: August 17, 2011, 04:36:08 AM
As promised in my Cybertool 41 thread  :)

Cadets

Top to Bottom : Red Farmer, Old Harvester, Blue Farmer

Pioneers and '06 Soldier (Silver)

EDCs Left to Right, OHT, Spartan, Huntsman, Signature (Wife's EDC)

I got a few of my Cadets from Felinevet as well as my blue Farmer and my Harvester. My Spartan is actually my very first real SAK given to be by my mom for my 17th Birthday. That was my EDC until four years ago when I saw the Huntsman in a hardware store, I've always wanted a SAK with scissors and all the additional tools it had in it just made me melt. Needless to say, it jumped in my pocket. I haven't been anywhere without that knife since I got it.

The Spartan was cleaned, polished up and put away for storage. I'll be getting a CT 41 next week so the Huntsman would be retired as my EDC as well.

The OHT is the odd ball in my collection. I keep it in the car's glove box and never really got attached to it. To be honest the 111mm knives don't do anything for me, the traditional 91mm's are my poison.

My wife isn't into SAK's but she sure does love that little Signature, she always brings it to me and ask me to clean it and sharpen it.

I've used a free hand method of sharpening the Spartan and Huntsman (Mouse pad and 1200 gritt sand paper followed up by a strop) but I'm contemplating getting a Sharpmaker to get the original angel back on them. The Huntsman has two very small dings on the cutting edge of the main blade. My question is, would I be able to get those out using the Sharpmaker? And if so what technique/method should I use?

I got to build a decent display for my collection as I keep them in the original boxes and don't get to enjoy them enough.

Hope you guys enjoyed the pics. Any advice on getting those tiny dings out on the huntsman is appreciated  :)

nice collection.  :)
I'm a relative novice with sharpening, so can't say much of use, but there are a few forum threads around dealing with it.

Rest is not idleness,
and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day,
listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky,
is by no means a waste of time

Nice collection!    :salute:

I use a $2 round ceramic rod to sharpen all of my SAK's. Works like a charm...   :tu:  Now my strop cost $20.   :D

Hey thanks for all the comments guys  :)

Funny you should mention scissors...the first time I saw one on a SAK I thought that it was the coolest thing! I can't live without the scissors on my EDC. Even at home instead of going looking for a scissors I just instinctively reach for the one in my knife  :climber:
