Looking for my first quality timepiece
on: October 18, 2011, 04:36:26 AM
Hello everyone.  I am looking for a nice watch that I can wear everyday.  I do not know much about movements and such and I have a basic idea of what I am looking for but do not know where to look or who may make it.

price: up to $300
luminus face/hands, glow in the dark, lights up, etc
easy to read (I have a vision problem)
black face with white/green/orange, etc numbers
no chronograph as I can not see those small dials
black case
black band
unsure about movement such as quartz, automatic
not sure if I want battery or solar power, kinetic, etc
brand name is not important to me
prefer to buy online as it will be cheaper
plan on buying next month (maybe)

thanks for the help with this.  :)
When In doubt, C4

Luminox navy seal watch maybe.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Don't know if this is your cup of tea, but I like it very much.  It's my Casio PRW-1300Y (the one on the right).

Here's a short Youtube clip about this watch (not mine, just found it on youtube, and the title is wrong, it's definitely a PRW-1300Y):

price: up to $300   Should be no problem
luminus face/hands, glow in the dark, lights up, etc  Luminus face
easy to read (I have a vision problem)  Pretty big digits
black face with white/green/orange, etc numbers  Black face/green digits
no chronograph as I can not see those small dials
black case  Check
black band  Check
unsure about movement such as quartz, automatic
not sure if I want battery or solar power, kinetic, etc
  Battery/solar powered

Extra's : Wave Ceptor (watch connects to atomic clock once every day ==> always the correct time)
            Digital Compass (nice gadget)
            Barometer/thermometer (nice gadget)
Altometer (nice gadget, I like this one very much)
            Timer (convenient)
            Stopwatch (convenient)
            5 alarms (convenient)
            World Time (convenient)

All I can say is I like it very much (don't know if it's still available, I bought mine about 2 years ago).

I was thinking about something like this, a Wenger Alpine:

Citizen Eco-Drive

Stay away from watches , the can get pricey . Citizen Echo Drives are nice , Seiko Black and Orange Monsters are GTG . I ended up with an Omega Seamaster Pro.

I haven't bought one in many years , but they can get addictive , especially automatics .
