I've only been out of the UK twice and both of them were over 11 years ago so i don't really remember much! Would love to visit some of the places i've seen in the pics in this thread!

It's kind of nice living next to a small airport. There's a Warbird fly-in tomorrow so I've been seeing all sorts of cool things overhead today. So far I've spotted a DC-3 puttering along, a formation of 3 AT-6s (I think) and 2 Helicopters, a Huey and a Cobra.

And it's scenery because there are some trees and sky in the picture.  :P

It was a nice show for being fairly small. The problem with going to these things with another person is I spend so much time talking that I forget to take pictures.  :D

They had the Huey and the Cobra, a Navy BlackHawk and a smattering of trainers and interesting civilian planes. For being such a cold and windy day there were a ton of people that showed up, I had to wait almost 15 minutes to peer into the cockpit of the Cobra and then forgot to take a picture!

The Cobra Helicopter. The Marine Corps pilots were very nice to the crowd and spent hours answering questions and explaining the operations of the helicopter.

A DC-3.

There was a short aerobatic segement with some "Mini-Mustang" kit planes. These things were tiny, I bet I could fit one in the back of my van.

The flyer for the show also mentioned "Tanks" as featured pieces but turns out there was only one "Tank" and it was technically a tank destroyer, M10. I actually said "act like a pin-up," this is what I got.

And the kicker, there was supposed to be a P-51 Mustang present for some aerobatics but I guess it showed late. We left the show at 2:00pm, an hour before it ended and saw the Mustang fly by my friend's house at 2:45pm.  ::)

After that we hit up the state park and played on the river rocks. I did manage to fall and destroy my pride in front of several people, but I stayed out of the water by sheer luck.

Dam!

Very nice pictures Spoon. The Cobra looks deadly.

I only wish I can see and touch those deadly war machines especially the most advanced tank, the Abrams M1A1 and M1A2. I want to hear its gas turbine engine sing.

Looks like you had a busy day Spoon. First the air show, then hiking to the river. Were there any multitool-use opportunities along the way?  :)

I had to use the blade and the saw to cut the puppy's leash out of some tangled underbrush a few times and I used my Locksmith to cut up our lunch at the show (another good reason to carry handi-wipes and a bandana, clean blade for improptu lunches) and then do a little carving of my walking stick to pass the time while the puppy played in the water.

Eddie,
Despite the designed purpose of those vehicles I find tanks to be wonderous and amazing to see in person. I haven't had the chance to see an M1 in person either but I plan to get some pictures of an M48 and an M60 that are on display at a VFW hall near my Mother's house when I return home in a few weeks. I spent many an evening when I was a child crawling all over them while my Grandfather conducted business inside.
