BTW, I really like your Raleigh.  That is a name that has disappeared in the US since my childhood.  It was very popular then.  Is it sporting a Suntour component package?

Ta :) No Suntour on it, its mainly Raleigh/No name stuff on it. Shimano gears and shifters, would like to upgrade them at some stage though as they aren't brilliant.

A few pics of bits and bobs of the bike :)

Hub gears are less efficient than derailleurs, more difficult to fix by the side of the road and heavier. So i'll stick with my derailleur for now :)

The inefficientcy is largely theoretical rather than practical these day's, and while a well adjusted deraileur is more effiecient, most bike I see, the gearing is as slack as a very slack thing :D

I can't argue on the weight front, but you shouldn't need to fix one by the road side, as there pretty bombproof (with a few well publicised exceptions)

That's OK.  Suntour stuff is far from brilliant also.  :P

Don't even bother trying to talk me out of my derailleurs Mike.
