Mr. Becker has acknowledged the issue.. not fixing it is not a result of being unaware

It's been around for a long time now and I don't think Kabar has done anything about it. Not limited to Kabar really, but any FRN sheath, include the becker necker, spyderco caspian/aqua/rock salt etc.

Steel gliding on glass fiber just isn't going to work out well.

Reasons why I like leather sheaths just keep getting longer.

I knew it was an issue, but not having owned a fiberglass sheath, I'd never seen it first hand- worse that I suspected. And I'm disappointed- I expect better from Ka-bar.

I just purchased a fixed blade knife today, and one of the reasons I bought it was because of the
Leather sheath.  I have kydex and  other material manufacturers like to make them out of
and yes the edges dull on some of them sheathing.  I have some knives that have never made a cut in their lives that had come from the manu razor sharp but aren't now just from removing and putting
back into the sheaths.

Sean:
Some knives lose their edge over time, even without use, due to microscopic rusting.  I think knives made of Carbon V / 1095 / o-1 have been reported to do this.  Kydex should be OK as long as the edge doesn't hit a metal grommet.. the problem with BK2 sheath is it is plastic with fiberglass.

Cleanser,
thanks for the info.  I know with the one in recent memory that has caused me problems is not
due to rusting but I noticed it within a day or two of bringing it home was the Cold Steel
Kiridashi neck knife in their secure ex sheaths.  It's the worst of my lot.  I might consider getting
a friend of mine who does kydex properly to re due it so I can actually make use of it because
as it sits right now a couple of times in and out and it gets considerably dull.  :-\
