Ok. I am going to back on my word.

One of the main reasons I didn't want to put a set of full size shears/scissors in this project is because they don't really exist....

UNTIL NOW!

I was at Canadian tire picking up an oscillating sander because it's on sale for a c-note and low and behold, these pop up. I had a TTi with me and they should fit, but I fear that I may loose a lot of the tools on the inside. That being said, transplanting them into the this project will be either simple or super hard.

I bought two of them, at $14 each I can afford to screw one up for this mod if it doesn't work, I can make some new scales for the 2nd one and have a mutli scissor to accompany the Sartorialist.

They seems to be spring loaded with a lock. It'll be a lesson too on how to add a spring to another project.

Here we go!

The Sartorialist - Awww crap, it maybe Surge time.

When I created the Arborman, the shear heads magically fit into a Surge with no problem.

Looks like, the scissor MT from Cdn Tire pivot points are the same distance apart as the Surge.

So, I have a Surge coming from CoPilot in a trade, and it already has outside opening scissors...

Also the blade exchanger would be a great place to have those removable parts I was trying to integrate, the Surge maybe the best donor body for this, OR maybe the Core, but I doubt there is room in the inside for everything I want.

OR

Should I stay true and use the TTi and make new handles and scales for the other scissor MT and have a duo?

I'll see, I'll see.

I bet you could rip the wings off a gnat with those needle nose pliers.

I also ordered on, but with all things cross border it should be here in 2015.

Ok, after trying 5 different tools in an effort to find a suitable donor body for the shears found In The craftsman scissor MT, I've come up with nothing. So I've returned to scissor MT handles. I believe I can add and outside layer to each side to mimic the a Charge Outside Open tools. I will have to make some new scales (maybe out of black G10) and mill some brass pivot with bolts on either side. This way I am not bound by the thickness of the outside opening pockets of a Charge or a Surge. Imagine I can also integrate the tape measure in it, maybe I'll steal it from the Cutterfly haha.

I also have a couple of "craft multi tools" that have a fold out ruler that i can modify into a hem guide.

I believe that the most appropriate tools for the outside would be the rotary cutter/pattern tracer, a seam ripper, the long awl and the combo pin cushion/needled storage. I can keep a short blade on the inside and the rest of the tools.

I'll see what else I got kicking around the shop for the scales, maybe some combination of wood and plastic.

Re: The Sartorialist - More Mod Fodder, the Craft Ruler.

I got the two 'craft MTs' in the mail today. Boy are they a POS..hah.

Good thing they were $.99!

What I really wanted was the folding ruler. I'll probably integrate this into the removable pin cushion thingy. The idea is to use it as a hem guide. I used the ruler last night, because it just so happened I hemmed my girlfriend's new dress pants.

I ordered some tailor's chalk to, in a bunch of colours, red, black, white and yellow. I'll shave them down to fit into a holder.

I keep on wanting to flop back to a charge TTi to make this because I KNOW pliers are useful and maybe just keep the scissors as a second tool. 2 tools are better than 10 lying on my table.
