It's a stellar idea.  I think the micra is long overdue for a replacement that does the brand justice.  These Squirts they keep coming out with don't really appeal to me.  Try as I might, I just can't get on with the PS4, and as far as the style series goes I am completely dissatisfied.  The micra was perfect, I hope they can come out with a new version soon that is in line with that status quo.

I'm excited about this midsized complement to the ST300  :tu:

I might just buy one or twelve  :D

Now, if they come out with a matching key-chain sized model

Ya know, I was actually gonna be content with just this one(for now), thanks a lot paul, now I'll just be sitting here hoping they actually do come out with that!   :twak:

Sorry Sean (:pok:)

I was just sitting here thinking that the Micra needed an update, but one in keeping with the same all stainless traditional form factor. And I thought that it would really look cool if it was in the style of the ST300/Rebar. (Anyone a PhotoShop guru? Just so that we [and Leatherman] can see how cool it would look. :D)

I'm thinking "Micra 300:tu:

I think that's a great idea. I wrote Victorinox a while back about a keychain Swiss Tool.  :D

I also do not like the Style line and have been disappointed with all of them with them exception of the Style. I really do love the PS4 and carry one every day.  :tu:

Read that first line again, it's kinda funny!

I like the micra over all of them  The scissors are just plain awesome.  I just really dig the all stainless construction, I wish they all had that.  My blast is my favorite tool but compared to a PST it does feel a little cheap.  I can't wait for the REBAR!!!

So here is my conversation with Juli today:

ME:
So I'm thinking that with the Rebar coming out next year, that there needs to be a matching key-chain sized tool in the ST300/Rebar family.
How about a "Micra 300"?

Leatherman:
 Hey Paul-
The idea is that the Rebar will kind of fill out the "Heritage Collection" of the Micra, Rebar and Super Tool 300. If you look at the Micra when it's closed, it has that same kind of scoop neck design as the Rebar and ST 300.

Jackaroo Jim:
Mmm... I like that Heritage Collection idea! Akubra uses that in their hats too, the best of the best collection with more details.
Wonder if the Charge/Wave may adopted them awlsome ideas from the Rebar some day ... hop hop hop hop hop
Will definitely be wanting a Rebar in my future! Finally getting a smaller tool with an awl in there - hopefully with an elongated thread-hole too.

Me:
I was just thinking that by adding the matching nail-nick access to the handles of the Micra, that it would end up being an inexpensive and attractive update.

Leatherman:

@Paul, we would have to produce all new dies ($$$) for nail nicks if you mean the cutouts that Rebar and ST300 have to access the tools. The Micra has the regular nail nicks right now though.

Me:
Yea, that's what I meant. Just the minor (though quite expensive) change, to make them look as though they were part of the "set", as it were.

Me (again):
It was just a suggestion, and I know that the Micra is still a best seller, but it is getting older, and a minor design change might be just the thing to "freshen up" a reliable company standard.

(I know it would cause me, and others to "re-buy" the Micra :))

Leatherman:
 Good idea :)

If they do a 'freshen-up' of the Micra it really would be the perfect time to do a pliers version. :)  I do like my P4 and PS4 but, as far as I'm concerned anyway, the Micra has better screwdrivers by a long way.

Juli's been calling John, Tracy, and myself Grasshoppas - Mister Miagi like, cause we are too impatient.   :D

John started the "hop hop hop" thing, so kinda adopted it for smurfs & giggles. Will be a great thing to have 2 of the more important features in a pocket-sized tool: the replaceable wire cutters & an awl! Not sure why it had taken Leatherman this long to see what customers have been wanting.

They know a lot of us Charge (and Wave) owners want awls in our tools without breaking the warranty. So am hoping (yet not holding my breath) that a version of a Charge gets hit with the replaceable wire cutters and an awl w/ a thread-hole of some type.

I have suggested a slide-out awl embedded in the handle to slide out with a liner lock. Never even got a bite on feedback on that.

:pok: This organization y'all have can move mountains, and here people talk, discuss, and listen. Y'all are always busy with some modification and tool improvement(s). Only wished the other companies paid more attention. Maybe one day a company like Leatherman will surprise us and create an MTO Edition ALL-IN-ONE Multitool. One day... !

I am just happy to be carrying around my sidekick right now.  I have had clipped in my pocket all week at work and it save having to carrying the whole toolbelt for minor repair jobs.  I will probably get a wingman from my local Home Depot when they come in shortly.  I love the pocket clip idea for these tools.  Of course it goes without saying that a Rebar will be on the wish list for next year but for now lets just play with the toys we can get.

I'm so happy the REBAR is coming!  I love the micra update idea, but it sounds like it won't be happening.  I guess I will just have to be content with the current issue.  ::)

I don't live in the UK but a blameless version would be great for me too. I carry a knife anyway and a version with scissors instead of a knife would be fantastic for me. Another option would be to replace the knife with the blade exchanger. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this one.

I know what you mean about the grasshoppers...

On the other hand, Leatherman's product decisions are infuriating!  They know the Wave/Charge series is their best seller.  They know that lots of us are going nuts to get an awl on those tools.  I just can't fathom why they'd make a smaller Super Tool and not put those plier heads and an awl on a Wave or a Charge.  I'd buy 2.

If I'm not mistaken, the replaceable cutter head will be implemented on the Wave and Charge. At least Juli had hinted at it a few months ago.

Hmmm... Maybe a bit of marketing strategy there? A wave you can give to anybody and it will last forever where as an ST300 might be more geared towards those of us that are a little more "hardcore" and will actually take the time to use the features...?

Am guessing this will give ample time for consumers to find product flaws, offer further enhancement ideas, and to see what the MTO'rs will do with them - not necessarily in that order.  :D

Hi all. First off, I really like the looks of this tool. :tu:

Also, I'm wondering if those recessed (kinda) screws are going to give modders a hard time.

I'm looking forward to the recessed screws.  The ones on my blast drive me nuts, always hanging up on the rivets in the belt sheath.

I don't really care about the name. I for one think its a better name than Juice. I got a funny look when my buddy asked me what MT I was carrying and I told him a Squirt.  :o

Any thoughts on whether it would be possible to replace one of the Rebar's implements with a pair of scissors from a Fuse or something?

i personal relally like the look of this one. im not a big guy and don't have massive hands so a supertool would be a little bit big for me. but this looks like a nice downsized supertool.

and i dont really mind the name either. sounds ok to me  :gimme: :gimme:
