Collection Walkthrough...drawer by drawer.
on: September 23, 2011, 05:27:58 AM
Collection Walkthrough.

Going from top to bottom in the first chest and cabinet.

Top drawer.

Next down, Buck Mts on the left, the middle deep drawer is full of MTs in their sheaths, and the right drawer holds an assortment of Schrade and other MTs.

One level lower, various generic MTs.

Next level contains various locking pliers and CRKT models, on the right, the real small keychain tools and miscellaneous items.

One of two Gerber drawers.

The Second Gerber Drawer.

The last deep drawer of the upper chest is devoted to Multitasker tools.

Top cabinet drawer has the Bear & Son collection on the left, and various Topeak and other MTs on the right drawer.

Next level down has the Victorinox MT grouping on the left, and part of the SOG collection on the right.

Going down, the first of 4 Leatherman drawers. This one contains the smaller keychain models.

Followed by the larger Leathermans, including the Skeletools style Leathermans.

Next level down are the Waves, and Charges.

Lower yet, Medium sized Leathermans including the Juice series and Mini Tools.

Going down one level, a deeper drawer full of Leatherman products, special boxed sets, stickers, Schrade Navitools, and other odds and ends.

Another deeper drawer full of miscellaneous item, including the boxed SOGs, OTIS kit, etc...

The lowest and deepest drawer of the cabinet is full of loose sheaths.

Now starting at the top of the second set of chest and cabinet, we have another catch all miscellaneous storage area.

Going down once again, the card style MTs on the left drawer. The middle deep drawer contains the Battle series knife set, and the Zodiac Passion series. On the right, various small Mts.

Next, various MTs, including a few boxed ones.

Next level down, more miscellaneous MTs.

The first of two Wenger storage drawers.

The second Wenger drawer.

The last deep drawer of the tool chest contains some big items.

Starting at the top of the bottom cabinet, part of my utility knife collection and various odd knives.

Down one level, the rest of the utility knife collection, and on the left, the military centric SAKs.

Next, part of the Victorinox collection.

Larger Victorinox knives.

Next down, even larger Victorinox knives along with a few custom Victorinox items.

Going down further, the Alox items along with an old hardware store display.

One of two deeper lower shelves that store some of the special boxed SAKs.

Next lower drawer contains various SAK centric items, including a variety of Victorinox kits/sets.

The lowest and deepest drawer contains special boxed SAK items.

That completes the collection Walkthrough Mercury.  :salute:

Amazing collection. Wondering if the blue, orange, and yellow Skeletools were available in Canada or if you somehow managed to wrestle those away from the Brits.

I only use a Knifeless Fuse due to work restrictions, although I have carried quite a few on weekends.

As for collecting, I started in 2008.

I recognize some oddities in the charge/wave drawer bottom right! Thanks for posting this chako I think we awl appreciate it! When I use a retired MT I feel secure knowing chako has one kept safe! Do you collect packaging too? I have a crunch and a pulse box in good shape I don't want but can't seem to throw away. I would gladly donate to you or anyone interested.

No thanks. I don't have enough room for what I have as it is without including extra packaging.

Shif7y, no, nothing I would have done differently other than jump right into buying the largest storage solution I could right from the start. But then, i didn't know how big this was going to get. Hindsight is always 20/20.

As for advice, here are some general thoughts in no specific order.

1. You will never get them all, so don't even bother trying.
2. Pick a focus for your collection that is of great interest to you.
3. Budget wisely.
4. Buy a nice and large storage container first, and set a goal of eventually filling it up with nice items. You would be surprised at how this facilitates you into achieving your goal. Stop once you have reached your goal and take a break...and then set another. :D
5. Try to get some good deals on eBay. Mind you, I have noticed that with the increased interest from MT.O, we seem to be boosting the prices of SAKs and MTs. I have noticed a big price increase in the last few years...that is for sure.
6. View SAKs as investments. I have noted a big price increase of SAKs compared to MTs in recent times.
7. Have fun.
