I definitely agree with you on that as well. I am much more excited about the Rebar but will most likely end up with all three either way.  :D

I'm not a fan of ps blades either. Recently got a Skellie, it came with the ps blade, so I had to get the cx just to get the pe blade, albeit in better steel. The missus was not impressed to say the least! Will have to wait and see how I feel about the wingman. Pics and revue to come!

Well it arrived today!

Can someone explain to me why when I buy a 'New' LM product I tend to suffer post purchase dissonance(ie I kick myself for buying it cos its a bit disapointing{Wave,Skelli,Fuse),but have fallen head over heads for 'old' LMs(Sideclip,Mini,Micra)?

(Having said that the Wave and the Fuse have both redeemed themselves,while the Skelli is still style over substance.)

First impressions on the Wingman are...mixed at best.

As noted elsewhere,I had a Cybertool34 arrive today as well...guess what I've been playing with all evening?It aint been the LM

Bear in mind after a few days use this could all change but:

1)By LM standards it feels cheap and a bit shoddy.In fairness it feels better than the Gerber Octane I bought a few weeks ago,but :-\

2)In playing with it theres sort of sense of it being a half thought out bitsa.Why have locking blade and scissors,but not locking drivers???Its not compatable with the Fuse type bit driver.I've yet to try it with the classic bit driver,but I think the pliers are too wide.

3)The file.Its short,ok...but why bother caliberating it in inches and cms if its to smurfing short to measure anything???

4)SOGs feel like,well SOGs.SAKs feel like SAKs,but you'd never mistake a Vic for a Wenger!Gerbers are, well Gerbers are Gerbers.The sliding head ones feel very good,very firm sense of idenity(I had a play with a couple during the week at the club).Butterfly ones seen to lack that same sense on idenity.LMs thus far,be they old school PST chassis types,Wave Types,Skelli types,ot Fuse types,they all share a Leathermanness(just,you pick it up and go YEAH I can trust you).The new one just feels wrong!It may well prove itself,but it just feels like the red headed step child!If it didnt have a LM name on it you wouldnt know its a LM!

5)Those of you who dont like SOG scissors will have a field day here!

As you say, early days yet.  Lets hope it confounds your first impressions. :-\  I do understand that some tools you just click with and others you just don't, it took me a good long time to come to appreciate the PST and I've still not yet really 'got' the Skeletool or my SOG PPP.  I know others love them though so they must have some appeal that I just don't get. :shrug:

'Kin'ell! Your putting me right off :ahhh i loved my wave straight away, tti the same. Gerber...hated it straight out of the box :cry: vic spirit and swisstool....love at first sight :D SOG powerplier took time to grow on me. I hope I feel the love for the wingman, or its going back :ahhh I hope you start to feel different about it, and begin to enjoy it real soon mate. keep us updated :salute:

Yeh I will!I took the Powerlock to work yesterday for the first time.Only ended up doing cosmetic repairs to a fire door(dont ask),but it felt natural and fluid to use.Wingman went shooting with me this morning and generated a bit of interest

One question for you mate, just how "3D" is the Phillips?  Is it "3D" like the LM flat bits are, or is it actually 3D?

Its 3d like the bits are Gareth,hence it not being able to take the Fuse bit drivers

Hi,

I've been alternating between carrying the Sidekick and the Wingman for about three weeks now.  I find a number of innovations that I really like.  The ability to raise the inside tools using the cut-out in the handles is very nice - my manicurist will like the lower number of broken nails.  I do like the Skeletool-shaped blade in both (but wish both were plain edge).  The package opener on the Wingman looks a jewel to me.  Although I haven't used it yet, the saw on the Sidekick looks serious.  I'll probably carry the Wingman more than the Sidekick because of the scissors.

For the unbelievers, try it for a few weeks.  You'll probably surprise yourself.  I think some very clever engineering went into these two and after handling the Rebar prototype, I believe we are going to see more great stuff from Leatherman over the next few years.
