I never really used my SwissTool but after being so suprised by the spirit I think I may give it a second chance! How does this sheath hold up?

I can't really comment as I've got a leather one, but I would imagine as it's a vic product it'll be well nigh bullet proof :)
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

As nylons sheaths go its seems to be better then any other nylon one I've ever had. I prefer leather, but a nylon one came with my Swisstool X so Ive been using it. The snap is the best I've seen, very heavy duty, really the only thing I don't like about it is there is no way to carry the tool horizontally, its vertical carry only.

I've got the Swisstool nylon sheath with the snap and have had no problems in 6 years moderate carry (my Wave is my every day tool). The only complaint I have is that, unlike the velcro type, closing the flap without the tool in the sheath usually requires a bit of concentration. For a nylon sheath, it's definitely one of the classier covers, befitting the tool it carries.

Which nylon sheath do you have ......

This one

Or this one

I have only been using the top one with the snap button for about a week now and its ok although I caught it a couple of times and its popped open , the tool is held very snug so there was no danger of it falling out .
The velcro one with grey trim I have used for years and they are fine although after along time the velcro isnt so good and you have to press it hard to close it .

Technically, Cordura is nylon.  It is a textured nylon product manufactured by DuPont.

Dunc:

I didn't know whether you were referring to me, so I waited. My sheath is the type in the upper photo. As to the snap, perhaps it's just manufacturing variations, use or general fit, but I haven't had my snap come open yet. I can close the sheath with the tool in it, hold the flap and dangle the tool about fairly briskly, and it doesn't come open. It's actually a bit difficult to snap shut if the tool isn't in the sheath. Perhaps if I carry it more it'll loosen up. The snap is MUCH tighter than my brown Wave sheath. And Victorinox does make such beautiful sheaths!!! Testament to their attention to detail. Regards, Bill.

Mine is like the top one, except the snap is different.

I just received a Swisstool X as a Christmas gift, and it has the 2005 plier head.  The snap is different on mine too--it looks a bit sturdier than the one pictured above.

I like the Cordura sheath much better than the nylon ones.  I prefer them mostly for the snap, but there seem to be fewer spots to fray as it wears vs. the nylon one.

IMO Victorinox has some of the best cases. Nylon/Cordura whatever it works great:
