Wingman and Sidekick.
on: October 01, 2011, 01:21:55 AM
Guess what I got in today...

Both tools look very similar.

However, they do differ in their contents...

Leatherman Wingman.

Leatherman Sidekick.

And the blade is different also...

I purposely did not read any threads that mentioned either tool as I wanted to experience the tools for myself with a clean slate. I was surprised at the intricate build and quality of the tools. Overall, I was very surprised at their retail price.

I was also surprised at the neat touch of having the tools come through the handles. This is great for drying, but more interestingly, you can push them out partway from one side, and partially open them for easier opening. I thought that was an interesting feature.

A little Leatherman information.

Nice. Is that bent over piece of handle a cover for the package opener/serrated blade to stop you from getting cut when pushing out the other tools?

I am going to look for them today. I love the straight edge on the Sidekick as well as the second serrated blade (hate the clam shell opener) I just wish it had the scissors and it would be perfect.

I am going to get both and swap parts. Calling one the Sidewinder and the other the Co-pilot.

The pouch and carabiner really screw up size perspective for me, if I didn't know I'd say both tools are micra sized.

Waiting for them to be in stock at local MEC.

Call them Goose and Maverick! You know you want to.

I'll be grabbing a Wingman as soon as they show up over here in Oz.

How about Sidekick, and his youthful ward Wingman. Ok, watching too much Batman w/ the boy :)
