I got back at around 2 p.m... I decided to give one of my Swisstools another chance. The quality is unmatched but if only it didn't have spring tension I would be able to EDC it.. The one handed blades are a must now! The std. Swisstool is an excellent product and is EQUAL to the LM Core!

I used the chisel to get excess "Gorrilla Glue" off of a broken coffee table once.

Haha I share a similar experience! The leg of the downstairs coffee table broke so I tried some gorilla glue.. And it expanded terribly! I have used it a million times and its never foamed and expanded like that.. Well I also always use a clamp when I gorilla glue something.. But anyways I ended up using a reg. craftsman chisel to get the extra glue off! And it turned out the wood was real soft so I said screw it and we got a new coffee table!

I love Gorilla glue. It's stronger than Super Glue, but dries slower, so if you mess up, you aren't.... sticky....

But yes, you are supposed to clamp it so excess glue foams out on the sides rather than expanding and possibly further mesing up whatever you were trying to fix!

The crate opener is really good for opening tins of paint , and taking the lids off charity collection tins .

I'm glad you've come around mate :) both the swisstool and the sprit are a bit special :)

As for the crate opener, I've only used it a couple of times (for splitting stuborn frozen kindling) but I'm glad it's there as your not tempted to use one of the other tools instead :)

OK, even though nobody was talking to me, you talked me into getting a Swisstool. What are the main differences in the three (is it only three?). I could look them all up and all learned up on them , but I'm lazy and that's what you guys are for!! :D I already have a Spirit and am very impressed by the quality.

Tell me what I need to know.

SwissTool Master

The original or standard model has just about everything except scissors.  The X model loses the serrated blade in favor of scissors, and the RS model is the same as the X only it loses the file in favor of a curved rescue blade.

So basically the only differences are the metal file, the serrated blade, the curved rescue blade and the scissors.

The scissors on the X and RS are more like the standard 91mm SAK scissors like on the SwissChamp or other regular SAK models, not like the scissors on the Spirit.

Another model, called the CS Plus is not really model unto itself- I think it's the RS, but it also includes the wrench and bit set.

If you scroll down a bit theres a chart that lays out all there all the features here...

http://www.sosakonline.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=199&Itemid=35

Although everyone has there favourite, for my money the X is the best simply because it has the most amount of utility, having said that there is pretty much a model out there for everyone :)

This is turning out to be a good thread  :D
The only problem I have with Swisstools is that if you already have one theres no point in buying another multitool for EDC as it always gets left at home . As much as I like other brand tools and I'm really interested in some of them but they just dont get used .

I agree with that to a point... there are times when I want something a little more compact (usually the Spirit jumps out at me!) or I want the one handed opening blade, or the pocket clip (Charge) or whatever.  The SwissTool is great, and it pains me to say this, but it isn't the "Be All, End All" of tools.  The RS does come pretty darned close though!

I see what your saying and I havnt stopped looking for the perfect tool but whenever I do get a different tool to try out it still doesnt tick all the boxes . The Sog powerlock came close , the Gerber Freehand I liked but fell very short in the screwdriver department , the Charge,  well I thought I was onto something good but the more time I spent with it the more I disliked it .If I couldnt have a Swisstool then I think a LM Supertool ( or 200) would be my second choice .Also I do pair my Swisstool with a SAK , which model depends on where I'm going or what I'm doing

My feeling is that when paired with a good SAK, the value of any tool increases exponentially.

I definitely agree!!  Especially when the tool is paired with a NutSAK!

 :climber:

I recommend the Swisstool X or the Spirit also.

The chisel was recently used to take off about 20000 layers of paint on the corner of a window ledge I couldn't use the heat gun or it would have set fire to the wallpaper. The strong crate opener was used to open my locker when I lost the key
