More than welcome feller  :tu:

As a side note that sheepsfoot knife that's in the pic is almost the same as my first "proper" slippie.

I think the knife is one of Neil's 'Taylor’s Eye Witness' folders  :tu:

Ok guys n gals sorry for the delay on the pics but had man flu last week plus extra night shifts so no time to do any pics,

well i have to say the MOD knife has really impressed me, its handles where over size so i snaded them down on the front and back edge but left the butt so members can see how oversized they was, ive added a lanyard to it, i did try and put a edge on it as was as blunt as a butter knife  :D but sadly my sharpening skills are beyond this one so ill leave it to a member more skilled in this art, even with my bad edge added it chopps with no effort due to its hefty weight, this knife feels huge even in my big hands, you feel like you could chop a tree down with this knife  :o  this knife looks like it would laste forever, top marks on this one and now i wont one  :D.

The J.adams is a nice knife as well, not my type of knife but nicely made and looks to be a knife bushcraft type knife, very flexy so good for gutting food, again handle oversize slightly but no biggy and has nice finger grooves on one side, the sheath is also very nice and well made, a nice lightweight feild knife.

now for neils extra a taylor's eye witness folder, this is a very well made pocket knife with one of my favourite blade types on it as easy to sharpen, it came sharp and has a solid snap too it, nice comfy scales as well, fit n finnish is very good, very nice indeed,

ok pics, ive added a comparison pic for scale , thanks again to Al for the chance to try these out and ill get them out to Dan this week  :salute:

I wondered where you'd been hiding mate. Hope you're feeling better  :tu:

Dan, Looks like it's down to you to put a decent edge on that thing and give it some serious welly mate.

A huge chunk of metal with wooden slabs arrived at my house today  :D  Took three Postie's just to carry it to the door  :ahhh

Thanks guys; look forward to playing with this beast. I thought my ESSE RC-4 was heavy duty  :o I'll get some comparison pics up  :tu:

Really like the Taylor's Eye Witness knife; may look into acquiring one  :tu:

My sharpening skills are at best average but I do know a guy; hopefully he'll be able to put a good edge back on them

Any chance of some "before and after" reporting Dan? Give it a whirl before your mate gets his mitts on them if you can, then let us know what he did and the difference it made  :tu: This thread needs to see some heavy knife use now mate  :pok: :pok: :D :D

C'MON, HIT IT!!!

I plan to be heading off to the woods with the knives tomorrow  :viking:

Shame I never got them last weekend as I was away at a Bushcraft course. Time for some practice  :tu:

I reckon the smaller knife would make a mean feather stick whereas the MOD knife would breeze through batoning and any shelter building duties  :D

For smaller stuff you won't need to batton with the MOD knife, it's got more than enough heft all by itself.  But you're right, it's nice to know that it'll take on pretty much anything you could conceivably throw at it.  Also I don't know how sharp it is right now, but mine takes a shaving sharp edge and actually does a good enough job at feathersticks. :tu:

I had them out at the weekend but made the mistake of bringing the family too. They didn't share my interest of cutting, chopping and taking pictures  ::)

First impressions are this is monster of a knife. It's almost like a little hand axe, doesn't necessarily have to be razor sharp due to its weight. Although once it gets an edge it should be up to the delicate jobs as well  :tu:

MOD Knife 2 Tree 0  :D

The dog certainly enjoyed his 'river time' in this blurred shot  :D

 8) pics Dan (especially that last one), but even I don't believe you felled that tree with it  ;)
So was it stick chopping mate or did you hack anything meaty with it?

Oh, while I think on ... I'd like everything to come back to me at the end of the passaround before I declare the winner.

A) I'd like to see what everyone has done with the knives (tweaks and refinements etc) as they've been passed around, and
B) I'd like to put a closing entry in the Knife Diary

Cerbera147 PM'd me to ask about moving these items on to the next guy, and as thesuper has a bit of a low post count and hasn't been active on here for about 20 days, I've decided (rightly or wrongly) the knives should "Head to the Med" next.

@dks ... can you let Cerbera147 have your details please  :tu:

@thesuper ... if you want to get back in on this before these head over the Atlantic can you PM me please. No offence mate, I just want to be confident this thing is going to keep moving  :salute:

@cerbera147 ... didn't you're PM say something about more pics etc ...  :pok: :P

So how much does this big bugger weigh again?

UPDATE:
Packaged weight is currently 875g (or approx 2lb). This will vary if people start adding in items as the package goes round  :tu:

At a guess I'd say the biggun itself is about 600g + sheath Bob, though to be honest the only weight I got was when I took the whole package for posting.

I talked to him through PM before christmas, when he said he was quite busy and would sent me the parcel when he was able to. I told him to ship it when he could, using cheap postage, but have not heard from him again. I assumed he had posted the package, but I have not gotten it yet. Postage servive is now back to normal; 3 to 5 days from the UK to here, cheap rate.  ???
