Well, I'd like to see LTG revive this old tool, personally, here. :D

See the 'vest pocket snip' below the 'ten-in-one', description, sounds soggish! 'compound lever'. Oh and the ten-in-one is bit like the gerber shard

With both the T-rex, and the dogtag.  Those 2 items are definately a proof of concept! :tu:

I see how it has the rounded serrations to dig into your palm in order to provide the need leverage when using it.
But I wonder how well the concept works?

Once the design and testing has been finalized, LM could probably produce with recycled scrap steel. After all, that is how the T-Rex was born.

When we visited the laser machine at Leatherman, they had this giant sheet of 154CM steel - it must have measured about 3 feet x 6 feet or so - and they were cutting Skeletool knife blades out of it. There was a "scrap" sheet lying on the floor with several hundred knife-shaped holes in it, all nested together very closely. (I wish we could have taken a picture of it)

Surely the material that was leftover in between could be made into something..?

They probably just sell it as scrap metal.

I would definitely do that. You could frame it and it would be Leatherman art.

Being just back from Lancaster Pa. I was at Country Knives, and guess what?? They do sell the Sidekick's Carabiner as a seperate item(item number 930378),and it sells for $8.00! you can log on a http://countryknives.com/ , or call them at 717-768-3818. IMHO, didn't see the biner in their website, so it might be best to call them.

Now you may all bow before me and kiss my ring!!

Someone from LTG sent me three of the critters. Offered one to my mom, that she stuffed into that suitcase she calls a purse.

Have two for myself that I looped the hand lanyards of my cell and LED Lenser M5 to, then can link those together or on the tether strung across the top bunk for when the pain is too much (hernia surgery).

Noticed that one is plain, but I'm using it anyhow. Wonder if that plain one is a collector's item?  :D

$8 a pop though? Figured $5 or $6, but the shape is really only for clipping and popping bottle caps. The hex wrench is cool too, also great for looping the lanyard through too.

This is a nice prototype tool that could evolve into a more handier one-piece tool if Leatherman wanted to go that route. They probably won't go that route in there would have to be a warranty then. As it is any accessory has zero warranty.

Now one thing many have missed is the hex bit hole has another advantage. Using the Bit extender one can gain extra leverage using that part on the carabiner.  :D
