Anyone know anything about furnaces?
on: October 09, 2011, 01:32:22 AM
I have a Teledyne Laars oil fired furnace in my house, which runs into a radiant heating system.  Lately we have noticed a significant amount of water coming out of the overflow- maybe a gallon every other day or so, and while I think it's just the high humidity and the furnace firing up for the first few times this year the wife thinks it's something significant and wants to call a repair guy.

I figured I'd see if anyone here knew anything about these and whether there's anything I should look at before spending money on getting a pro out here.

I have worked on furnaces in the past. If this is just being fired up lately from being off for awhile. I would say that it's air trapped in the line and the pressure of the heated water is forcing it and some water out. Give it a couple more days and keep check on your water level daily. If it continues to use water, then call a service person. Also keep track if how much water it is loosing. If it gets less each day, then I'd say your good to go.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?
