This thread is a figment of your imagination

Since it is against Gerber's policy to supply parts for individuals to fix their own tools, a very understanding, nameless representative from Gerber most certainly did not, under any circumstances or through any stretch of the imagination, send me a spring to repair the lock mechanism on my MP700 Urban Legend.

It single handedly repaired itself and grew a new spring, which is why I now have a fully functional MP700.  If someone were to have broken the rules and sent me a spring, which they most certainly did not, I would thank them profusely for another job well done, another happy customer and I would want everyone to know how great Gerber's customer service is.

Wink wink, nudge nudge   :D

If only that was a real story! It would make me happy to see how good Gerber are!

p.s. they do sort of tell you how to take the mp400 apart, or at least in the "instruction" manual that came with mine it tells you how to tighten or loosen the tool pivots, which is basically telling you how to dismantle it.
