Upping the Ante
on:
August 22, 2006, 02:49:07 AM
Most of us Multi-Tool heads know about Leathermans Charge having the cm154 steel in the main blade,a few of us know they upped the ante again with S30V steel coming in the new revamped Charge but my question is when is the competition going to put better blade steel in their tools and if they do will they sell more........any guesses as to who may be the next to up the ante with better a blade steel?
Cheers,
Kap

I am sure SOG will probably be next. It only makes sense as they probably have the best variety of steels lying around.
Of course it could be neat to see a damascus multi!

I'd like to see some more titanium tools that are lighter and stronger.Imagine a Supertool, powerlock or Swisstool with all the size but half the weight

That would be kind of cool. A big tool that weighs the same as a small tool. Of course, you'd still have the bulk but at least it wouldn't make you feel like someone is trying to pull down your pants all day!

I think 154cm is pretty good but, dosen't S30V chip under usage? They might have fixed the problem with a different heat treat but, I am not sure?

Don't ya think s30v is a bit overkill? Hard to sharpen as well. IMO
